Hi,
I recently bought a Jap import 2006 STR which had already had a SatNav update with NZ Maps - next time I go to the shed I'll have a look at the DVD and let you know what I find. I downloaded an 'English' drivers handbook etc and there are a number of market specific options that are set 'off' for Japan, double locking, alarms, indicator flash on locking and also the limited frequency range for the radio, I've seen somewhere on the forums that these are switchable with the right software and there was also a reference to the name of that system - if I find it again (and I need to) I'll let you know through this post.
Happy motoring
Robert

Hi Robert,
Thanks for posting. I did see a post or two from people who have had a fix from Clinch Automotive in Chch which led me to believe that there is possibly a software solution within the system as it seems odd that a car maker would build a different Satnav system for one market. It seems more likely that all markets were built into the system and all that is required is to access it and tweak.
I also note that Auto Gravity say they can change the system to NZ maps (between $300 and $900 i think).
I do have a Launch X431 pro diagnostic tool which, when I get time (haha), will check out what can be tweaked.

Hi John,
Welcome to the forum. I have found the advice and information here to be excellent. There are some really good guides for all the common tasks and some of the not-so-common ones too. There are quite a few of us Kiwis here. I mostly hang around the X350/X358 forum, but occasionally look in on the XJ Series I-III group.
Regards from the chilly (at the moment) South Island
