Forgive me for my naivete', but I thought this was a Jaguar X100 forum. While I have ridden bikes in he past(Honda CB350, Triumph Bonneville, etc., I thought this was a Jaguar forum. Moderators, Why has this become a Rice Rocket thread. Isn't there a forum for these bikes??? If this is the way this forum is going to go, I would like to discuss my Chevy El Camino. It was a pretty good ride, and I really miss it, now that I am restricted to a 2 seat vehicle.

This is not a jaguar X100 forum this is a thread about motorcycles in the "Non Jaguar Vehicles" section of Jaguarforums.com.

If you want the X100 section you can find it here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/

Jeez o1 - that is one hell of a refresh !
It is looking fantastic. It’s hot here now .
I got the first gap in the traffic at work today with the next three days off .
and I got all enthusiastic and went out to the bike shed , walked past the modern bikes
and pulled out my old 86 dinosaur.. It’s been along time since it’s been out .
Fuel was stale , carburettors were full of Green oxidation. From some very stale avgas.
Scrubbed and cleaned all that out . Flushed the tank out . Charged the lithium battery.
gave it a service nothing like the service you gave yours.
just new fluids and filter , bleed brakes , checked tyre pressures .
washed the whole thing and lubed the chain.cleaned and oiled air cleaners .
also had to fix the tail light switch , and a broken earth and one indicator.
and adjust the rear brake light switch. Pretty dam minor stuff really ..
she’s good for her age 👌sounds amazing too !
Probably use it a bit now. !!
I was gonna get it painted sometime in 2020 but a lot of things didn’t go our way.
I’ll make that a new years resolution.
Happy New Year all !

Jack, it sure is a good looking bike. Glad now I didn’t sell it when I bought the 2016 XJR.

Andy, I love that GSX-R. I bought one new in 1985 from the Suzuki dealer in Tauranga.
I have had the ZRX for quite a few years without doing any major maintenance, since I crashed the XJR it has become the daily rider again (clocking up 600-750 km a week at the moment commuting to Brisbane)

Bloody heck . That’s a fair commute!
cool in 1985 you were the man. I was only nine when you bought that.
And dreaming of the day I could physically get one off the side stand .ha .
The sound they made back then was intoxicating and still is.
Buying one of those brand-new for the road back then was about as crazy as buying a CR 500.
Or PE 400 . Truly legendary and Notorious bikes.
I bought mine 21 years ago with just 13,000 k’s on the clock. I’ve taken it to 48,000ks.
it’s a stage 2 Yoshimura demonstrator. The one below the dry clutch model.
shame about the XJ , but doesn’t look too bad .
my old 86 GSXR has looked worse than that a few times in the past.
I have Literally flown It off the side of the Takaka Hill.
12 m down upside down in a tree. Hence the new front-end.
major brake failure. Few skids on its side down the road too since I’ve had it.
The saying gets modified with me, I have skinned my teeth and knees on that bike.
It takes a fair bit to make one unrepairable.

Hey Clarke, After seeing a picture of them both. I think the Kawi is the prettier of the 2. That 's a pretty good commute. I used to do about 100 miles a day back, and forth to work, did that for about 5 years. I rode mine pretty much year round. If it wasn't raining, or snowing, and at least 48 degrees F, I was riding. Ended up with over 100,000 on my first PC 800, before a dog took me down. I bought it with the wind protection in mind. Here's a pic of the one I have now. Looks identical to the first one.
Any Ill effects from the crash? or are you all healed up?

Jack

Andy, front end and oil cooler, exhaust would get it sorted. Plus dash and controls( frame probably bent as well.). But not much around in parts, all damaged ones are front end write offs I have come across. Making it not economical repair being uninsured . The 8000 km old engine is ear marked for a mates side by side buggy, lots of bits off it will be used to resto mod the GSX1100 rat bikes. Ohlins shocks and front master cylinder have gone to good use on the ZRX Saving $1000-2000 depending on wether I rebuilt or replaced parts. And sell off what is left over.
The GSX-R750 was the first one registered to a private buyer in NZ in 1985. All registered before that were dealer demos. I had just turned 17 and traded my GSX1100ET on it.

Jack, I have said all along the ZRX1100 is the best all round bike I have owned. The 2001 XJR1300 (o1xjr) came close to that but not as good all rounder as the 99 ZRX.
THE 2016 XJR was the first fuel injected bike I have owned, a go at moving into the modern era but was never completely satisfied with it. So now I have added two more 80’s GSX11’s to the fleet.
Injuries are 90% repaired. Just a knee replacement to go at some point. Back working 5 days a week (after 8 months off) and commuting 150 km a day mostly on the ZRX or the XJ6 when called for. Done a few track days on the GPZ600 as well.

The first picture was the day af the accident before we set off. Last picture is the original o1xjr.

Shame you got injured sorry to hear that . Hope you get sorted out ok .
i do like the 01 in yellow. Looks great !
I used to have an 82 GSX750g ex police bike with the tell tale speedometer lock button.
awesome power but was a terrible bus of a thing to steer .
Before that I had an 81 katana 550 . That was a cool bike and handled great .
I got out on the 86 last Sunday . 175km round trip . 1 tank done . Had an absolute blast. I forgot how dam loud that thing was.
My right ear was ringing for hours. Absolutely Awesome bike that thing!!
it was going great. And handling brilliantly.

Had to stop for a quick beer half way .

One piece at a time. I believe would be the correct term. I see the forks on the Yami, any thoughts on putting it back together? I was curious if the frame was bent? I almost can't believe it wouldn't be, after the hit it took. Good to hear all is good with you. Mine is tucked away in the shop, as it's 2 degrees above zero F, and 12 inches of snow with more coming. Take care, and keep the shiny side up. LOL!

Jack, there is an old Suzuki front end on the XJR at the moment just so we could move it around. Still haven't had a look at frame.
The engine and electrics were destined for an off road buggy, but haven't heard from the guy so considering options soon.
There seems to be a few rolling chassis around the country, as the XJR1300 engines are used in minature race cars here. Might try to source one to fit the engine into.

Wow that would be great to find a rolling chassis. I wouldn't have thought about that. We have over here what are called mini Sprints. They look like a miniature Sprint Cars. Most of them are 600 cc. We also have Dwarf cars, (miniature 30's-40's sedan bodies) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legend...ound_the_world . That use the 1100cc + engines. So I guess there would be an abundance of donor bikes ripe for the picking. I just never thought of that? I hope you come up with a good one. Seems a shame to waste a great bike. Good Luck

Missed a 2007 roller for $900 a couple of weeks ago. Only thing missing was engine and harness.

I've ridden on and off for decades, but never had my own bike; I "borrowed" from friends or especially from my brother, who's always had at least 2 or 3. In 2007 I bought a 2003 FJR1300, and absolutely fell in love with riding. This one wasn't something I could play with once in a while, this one was how I could get around to places I needed to be!

I ride to work, I tour around on weekends, I can load 50 bucks worth of groceries onto it, or load it up for a weekend at a race track somewhere. (Not to race or do a track day, but I'm an IMSA fan!) It's carried me from my home in Panama City, Florida to Barber Motorsports in Alabama at least twice, Sebring three times, and I've been on trips to Atlanta and Orlando on it. When the Blue Angels do their end-of-season show in Pensacola every November, The feej gets me and my camera over there.

On the causeway to Okaloosa island from Navarre, Florida

Loaded up for Sebring, with tent, camp chair, camera bag, clothes, towels, laptop, rain gear, and cold weather gear (it gets chilly in March here sometimes!)

Well over 100,000 miles on it, most of which was in the first five years I had it. Since then my riding has dropped significantly, what with a divorce, two hurricanes, blah blah blah, but I'm getting back on it lately and having a blast again!

Oh, yeah... don't let anyone tell you that shafties can't do wheelies!
