Prepping the winter beater so I can park the XKR away for the 'more ungood' weather days here, aaaannnd then this happened!! 😳
Thats a brand new oil pump that, as you may well see, is no longer able to perform it's duties ha.
Car is a 1966 Plymouth Belvedere II. Nothing special, 4-door, 273 V8/904 Torqueflight automatic. So far, I have replaced all engine bearings, home ported and rebuilt heads (just clean up and new stem seals ha), added an aluminum intake and Holley 1450 600cfm carburetor. Stepped up the cam from the lowly stock grind to a '340 Magnum' bump stick. Went through the brakes, rebuilt the front end, and patched some holes in the floors.
Anywho, new oil pump arrived, hopefully get it in today or tomorrow and here's hoping bearings aren't trashed.....too badly lol
Not a clue. The intermediate shaft had some significant wear on it as well. Either I somehow installed new pump wrong, or the worn intermediate shaft had something to do with it, or maybe just a faulty pump. Could have been something I'm just not seeing. Either way replaced both pump and intermediate shaft. Running without issue so far.
