Default Blue XK120 - High Dynamic Range shot

This picture was forwarded to me by an Jag Club of Austin member. It is a high dynamic range shot of a bonnet of an XK120 during the Texas All British Car Day (late Sept 2010) in Old Settlers Park, Round Rock TX.

I am trying to find the original photographer so I can learn his technique and maybe learn what software that's being used for this.

I think the shoot looks amazing .....

Hey,

I am learning how to do some HDR photography myself, it is a bit involved. You are going to need a sturdy tripod! The idea is to take multiple exposures of the same shot, so you can capture shadow and highlight detail and bring it together in a single photo. Photoshop has some plug-ins you can use to merge multiple pix together, the rest is tone mapping.

Here is a pic from my deviant account http://billimanius.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2wbre4 There are few more HDR pix there you can check out.

I have not taken HDR of my car yet, you are giving me ideas!

Billy - that is nice! You need to get your XJ into the composition.

I just checked your DA gallery and haven't seen any Jag photos yet.
No Jag ones in my gallery either - but a couple of HDR ones. http://champir.deviantart.com/gallery/

Enjoy.

it has metallic gold with tan and tobacco interior, with rare perspecx rear screen. it is a original california car, runs and drives great i think.

That's a cool shot. HDR is very cool when done correctly.

Agreed, some folks out there have overdone HDR.

Anyway, r0m8470, Photomatix by HDRSoft is a popular HDR mapping software application available for download online. Basically you take what's called bracketed photos, ususally 3 snaps each having something like, -1 exposure, 0 exposure and, +1 exposure setting on the camera. Then load it in Photomatix and you can adjust the sliders until you have the desired effect.

hope this helps. cheers.
