My BMW Performance Center Delivery experience (Greer, SC)
Went through this last week!
The free BMW Performance Center Delivery program (in Greer, South Carolina) is available for any new BMW model currently in production. Customers must order eligible vehicles from an authorized BMW retail center within the United States. Eligible vehicles do not include CPOs, BMWs sold off the dealer lot, Mini, Rolls-Royce, and Motorrad.
The day started with some hot laps with BMW instructor Donnie Isley!
At the end of the hot laps session, we've worn down some clutch, brakes, fuel, and tires. Yup, I'm talking about 6.5 MPG average!
Then we went to wet laps, doing 360 spins around the track in a 335i...
Afterward, we came back for a round of instructor-driven M5 lightning laps: reckless speeding, drifting, spins, etc. No pics because it was not possible to hold a camera steady during this hooligan run!
We then went on to the long factory tour (1+ hour). This is where all BMW X5's and X6's are made; it takes approximated 2 miles of conveyor belt assembly line to make a car from start to end. The 1000+ robots were amazing! Sorry no cameras were allowed.
Then, we came back for X5 off-road experience.
The BMW Zentrum museum was next!
007's Z3
Z8
Z1
Z4 Alpina
The hood = door
Some old motorcycles
M-Power racing engine
Z4M
Art Car
3.0 CSL - what a beauty!
Taking delivery of my 1M... thanks Donnie!
Prep for the drive home.
Last shot at the Zentrum
Back at home, many many hours later! The bug-covered painter's tape removed easily without leaving any residue...
Conclusion: if you're thinking of buying a BMW, get it through PCD if it's available!
