Yes guys, that is essentialy my camera. It is actually a slightly newer model than mine.
I see it seems to have ahot shoe, my Rollei doesn't have such luxury. Mine was new in early 1976.
My flash needs a wire.
I wish I had that lense for it though.

It has strange lenses but Can't understand why a lense would get stuck.
I also have a canon with a telephoto lense that gets stuck sometimes.

Anyway That is very nice, brings meback to the '70's with cheap gas an boring cars like stock Vega's and Pinto's.

Ok I am done with memory lane now. Love that camera though.

I hope you guys don't mind a slight hijack. I'll disclose in advance that which will soon be obvious....I don't know much about cameras.

My recently deceased father was a photo enthusiast. Years ago his old Leicas were stolen (he was crushed) but among his collection of photo "stuff" were several Agfa 35mm camaras, which I believe he said were 50s-60s vintage. As far as I know they are in good working order.

Are these likely to have much market value? Enough to even merit much research? I can get the exact model numbers if needed.

I don't recall him saying that they were anything special but thought I'd ask.

Cheers and thanks

Both were good cameras in their day but today value can only be estimated by a collector and or a film enthusiast. One would need to know the condition and functionality of the camera. Also keep in mind that the lenses are a valuable part of the camera. A good place to start looking for the value is the internet, but you will need the model number and be honest about the condition.

It [the SLR] is a great camera for action shots and for me better than any camera I have ever used. I have owned Nikon, Nikormat, Ricoh, Canon etc. I have shot many airshows with it and lots of car racing shots.
So again it is NOT the dual lense, it is an SLR. and it used standard 35 mil film.

I never had a problem with light leaks though. (Don't tell me I may not want to know, LOL!)

I am smiling here this is a conversation I have had a thousand times in the thirty plus years I have owned the Rollei. More than once I actually had to produce the camera to PROVE that Rolleiflex DID in fact make an SLR.
Another time an otherwise knowledgeable camera guy told me to my face I was "full of it" Rollei NEVER made an SLR...I made him eat those words later by showing him the camera, and AGAIN...
Makes me glad over digital cameras, I never have to explain this anymore.

So cheers everyone,
JustV12.
I know, your is Rolleiflex SL35M from 1976 and the SL35E which Disco Stu55 post is from 1978. I still have a SL2000F and 3003. Cheers.

Seeing all this talk about what cameras have, makes me feel like my camera is a wimpy little thing. I'm just using a Canon Rebel XSi DSLR with the 18-55MM lens (F/3.5-5.6). Granted, I am looking at some other lenses for it (50mm all around lens). But, for me, the 12 MP images along with the factory lens does most of what I need for the moment. My big thing is learning how to set up the camera to do what I want. Still getting a hang of the camera. I love doing night time stuff and sunsets/sunrises. Would love to figure out how to make fireworks stuff come out right (may have that figured out now though adjusting the ISO of the camera). But, we'll see. Got another "photo shoot" coming up here the end of the month when I fly out to Seattle to see the grandkids. Always have to shoot up lots of pics then. We'll see what happens then.

A camera is a camera. Doesn't really matter much what name is on it. They're the same as they've always been, a light tight box with light sensitive media in which to capture an image. The differences between the digital stuff is so minute you'll most likely never tell the difference between what shot what. The biggest difference is with the size of the film or digital sensor. As the size of the capturing media increases you lose depth of field. This creates more blurring of the fore and background areas. Lending the ability to create a more dramatic separation of the surrounding elements and your subject. The amount of detail captured on larger format is also greater, though unless you're aiming for 40"+ prints that detail holding ability is wasted. I've printed 11mp files from my old 1Ds to 30X40 and they look fine, though I don't think I'd push it farther than that. For large prints I still fall back to film because digital just doesn't cut it. It's getting there and for the most part, comparing it to 35mm film it does the job well. Though, it has a seriously long voyage to hold a candle to larger film. But all the tech talk on what's better than what doesn't matter. What makes the image is who's behind the glass. The camera is just the tool used to make it happen.

It's pretty tough to say for sure, because most of the Agfa 35mm's i've see lately are selling around $50 & $60. They appeal mostly to collectors and students on a budget. If you'd like to ask maybe someone on the link below they might know more and could help you out.

I am using a Nikon 6.1mp camera and I have produced several 30x30 prints with little or no distortion. And I got paid for them! As for the depth of perception using shutter speeds and aperture I hope this link will help http://www.megapixel.net/html/glossary_keywords.php It has been a great resource and a wonderful tool for me and others. They also have good topics and photos.. I do agree with “The camera is just the tool used to make it happen”. I hope this helps!

Default My gear

Thought I could spare a few moments coming back to jaguarforums and relax a bit, so I decided to start by posting on this thread, photography being one of my favorite hobbies.

My current gear is: Canon EOS 7D + Canon EOS 450D (“backup camera”, as I like to call it. It gives a “pro” sense to the whole statement, right!?? ).
Lenses: Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L + Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 + Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 and a couple of older “kit” lenses.
I recently bought a Kenko 1,4x Extender, but I still don't know if it was a wise purchase...
I also have a Canon 580EXII flash, but I’m still getting used to deal with it.

My main interests are car racing, nature/lanscapes and portraits (I'll start a thread with some of my shots and ask for your comments, if that's OK!)

Cheers.
Nuno

Sometimes there's no substitute for a long lens, however, when you just can't get close, or you need the "compression" effect it gives.

South Africa has a lot of stunning wildlife and scenery, when I moved here in 1993 from UK I decided to update my camera equipment. First of all I began with a 35mm Minolta and added lens as I could afford them. To cut a long story short I had a break in at the house a couple of years ago and all my equipment was stolen. Thankfully the insurance company replaced all my equipment with new. I still had the 35mm which was good, but with developing and printing costs going through the roof, I decided on going the digital route and finally ended up with a Canon 500d with Sigma 75-300mm and Sigma 170-500mm. A good move as I would normally take around 300 pictures on a typical safari and keep about 20, the rest were dumped.

I find the 75-300mm the lens I use most of the time, if there's a risk of being eaten by a lion or stomped by and elephant I use the 170-500mm.

The pictures here were taken with my old Minolta and Sigma 75-300 lens.

I'm not a photographer. I'm just a guy that carries a camera around with fresh batteries installed and a blank memory card in the slot and ready to snap that all important image. The camera that goes everywhere with me is a basic Fujifilm A160. I have it ready to go mostly so that I can take pictures in the event of a car accident. Not to get snaps of arms or legs hanging by a thread but more to get photographs of the other driver and any passengers as well as pictures of the actual damage to all vehicles. This is because I live in an area of England that is well known for "Accidents for cash" gangs of criminals. If you don't know what I mean by that, count your blessings.
My other camera, the one that I would use for formal pictures, is a Minolta DiMage 7i

My wish list is a camera that sits in my hat band and points where I look automatically. It would have a "trigger" under one of my thumbs on the steering wheel.
