The XK-120 was the start of an Incredible line of Jaguar sports cars with a distinguished competition history of winning LeMans 24 Hour race five times, plus many hundreds of others.

Jaguar, In an attempt to “test” the acceptance of this radical departure In style and performance, initially produced 13 hand built, alloy bodied cars for export and racing.

This example was one of those 13 with a pair of factory manufactured tonneaus, one for the driver’s door and one to cover the passenger seat in order to “slip-stream” the car in the factory’s attempt to reach 120 mph.

This beautifully styled 120 has a fine competition history from new, being first raced at Limerock, Connecticut and subsequently Elkart Lake, Bridgehampton and Silverstone, England.

Surely the chassis number is not 3670084 but 670084? That would be one of 43 alloy LHD OTS built in the month of January 1950. Wouldn't that make this the 84th alloy LHD 120 OTS? The final alloy LHD OTS was 670184, built in March 1950, thus a few more than 13 alloy 120 OTS were built. And for sure this does not have a V-6 engine (unless Sir William was far more farseeing than we had ever imagined). At least that is what Philip Porter's "Original Jaguar XK" documents.
