Default 1977 XJ6C

You are looking at a very Nice Jaguar XJ6C. This was the final year for the XJ coupe. This coupe is in excellent condition for it's age and drives like a new car. The ride, feel and solidity of the car is amazing. This Coupe is in excellent condition. I drive this car almost every day. This coupe is mostly original with a few key upgrades and State Side dealer installed sunroof. If you know coupes, this is the one to have. It's complete, mostly original, solid and rust free.

This car really needs to be driven to be appreciated, especially with the windows down and sun roof open.

The Experience:
The driving experience is great. The car has no trouble keeping up with modern interstate traffic and cruises fine at 70 MPH, bursts to 85 are uneventful but anything more that 90 is pushing it. The ride is smooth and quiet with some noticeable 70's era typical wind noise. No problem talking on the phone or hearing the radio at highway speeds. Steering and brakes are great and the suspension is tight. The car handles wonderful and has excellent road manners. Acceleration is surprisingly brisk, almost spirited when you put your foot into it. It doesnt overhear in still city traffic on a hot day. You CAN NOT beat a low mileage car.

Engine:
Full power and running as designed with an upgraded ignition system. The engine idles perfectly smooth and is powerful. The carburetors were recently rebuilt along with the automatic choke. They were synchronized, adjusted and they work perfectly hot or cold. The car starts easily on a cold day with out any issues and idle's down quickly as it warms up. The ignition system was upgraded with a modern Crain module and Accell coil designed for use with no ballast and 12v. A new premium A/C Delco remanufactured water pump, thermostat and, heater control valve were installed so the cooling system is on point too. No smoking or any engine issues.

Transmission and drive line:
Quiet and shifts smoothly. Upshifts are correct with no noises or bumps, downshifts are quick and responsive. Forward and reverse engagement is quick and with no clunks. Shifter is smooth and direct. The rear diff is tight and quiet but it's a bit weepy, they all are.

Suspension:
Solid and smooth. All 6 shocks have been changed with Gas Gabriel shocks made in Belgium.
All 4 front ball joints were changes and wheel bearings were repacked. New nolothane upper contol arm bushings from AU were installed. This is a key upgrade that GREATLY improves steering feel and offer NO harshness.

Tires:
New tires. Quiet and smooth...Nothing special.

Steering:
A rebuilt ZF rack from a 1995 XJS was installed. These new rack designs are a bolt in and offer the same great feel. The last much longer that the early, leaky and weepy Adwest racks. New high and low pressure hoses were also installed along with new tie rod ends, the proper intermediate shaft and new ujoints for the colum. The steering has absolutely no free play. The driver's wheel is a Nardi wheel that matches the dash... it looks and feels great. Horn works too.

Brakes:
Tight and quiet. Car stops straight and great. Pedal feel is excellent. Front and rear pad are about 1/2 consumed but it may take years of driving to finish them off.

Ancilaries:
Wipers work fast and are effective, all lights, buttons, switches, gauges, dash lights, radio and electrics work with the exception of the power antenna.
All the windows go up and down briskly.

Sunroof:
An unusual option. I was told the run roof was installed in 1977 when the car was new. The sticker on the door and markings inside the car seem to back that up. My research suggest it was common at the time for the vinyl roof to be removed to install the sunroof, then the whole car was repainted. The sunroof operates perfectly and offers no leaks or wind noise.

Interior:
Looks almost new and is very nice.

Exterior
All watherstripping is soft and like new. The front grill is new old stock and flawless. Panel fit is excellent. There is no sag in the chassis and the shut lines are excellent.

Paint:
The paint is just presentable. There are various chips and a few dings here and there. A few touch up's would go a long way or a proper repaint would make this car show stopper. This is a decision for the next owner. As a driver its fine and worry free.

Heat and A/C:
Works as designed with thermostatic temp setting. A/C works but it's low of on refrigerant. Heat comes on when the car warms up as designed.

Chassis:
NO meaningful RUST! None. This coupe is freakishly solid. Floors, rockers, rear quarters, and under the rear seat are all solid, like new. This is EXTREMELY unusually and the car has been garaged its whole life.

The car is currently garaged in NYC. Buy and make and experience of it..., spend a weekend in NYC with the Coupe and drive it home.

Mileage will increase, I put about 50 miles on the car today.
