Default 1999 xjr

Sadly, I must sell my 1999 XJR. She has 150,000 miles on her. Meteorite over charcoal. Free, clear, and clean Michigan title.

Florida car. Has never seen snow. Does have one small rust hole in the right rear quarter panel, beneath the tail lamp, and a bubble on the left rear in the same place. Also one very small spot of rust on the dogleg of the front right fender. The car has absolutely no rust underneath. Everything, down to the brake lines and fuel lines, looks as new as the day it left the factory. Does have its share of scratches, especially on the trunk lid. Left rear reflector is missing. Front bumper is cracked slightly over the left front turn signal.

Interior is mostly good, but with wear on the front seats and a seam that came unstitched on the drivers seat bottom. Wood is good, other than on the front door panels, which are cracked but not too noticeable as the cracks sort of blend into the pattern of the wood. Carpet is very nice, as it the headliner. Armrest is also in very good condition, although the cupholder feels like it may break in the near future. The dash is also quite nice, although it is just starting to lift a little where it meets with the windshield.

Needs:

Front shocks and bushings

Vee mounts

Shifter cable needs adjusting

Valve cover gaskets just barely seeping

Slight rear main seal leak. Doesn't use hardly any oil, but it is wet underneath. It's not much of a leak, though. They overfilled slightly when the oil was changed 1200 miles ago, and still shows slightly over full on the dipstick.

Has a frequent driveability issue under wide open throttle, likely related to the fuel pumps, as the problem started when I had the fuel pumps replaced. Under normal driving, the car drives perfectly, with plenty of power.

EGR valve likely needs cleaned, as the car has a P0400 code.

Previous owner (which was a car lot owner, and a customer of mine, who used it as his personal car for over two years) bought it in Florida and drove it down there the past 2 winters. When I asked about whether the timing tensioners were upgraded, he said he was told that they were. I have no service records, so I really don't know if this is true.

Email me through the forum, and I can send pics. Or you can PM your phone number, and I can text pics.

I'm asking $5500 or best offer, hoping to get as close to $5000 as possible, as that is what I have invested in it. I will accept a reliable vehicle as partial trade, as long as you have $4000 cash to go with it.

I can't go much lower than $5000 cash or $4000 and trade, as I still owe on a personal loan for the car. The title is in my name, with no liens, but I am making payments on it on the honor system and need to pay my remaining balance if I sell the car, and still be able to buy basic transportation.

I may, however, consider a trade for an X-Type, with $1000-$2000 cash on your end, depending on the mileage and condition.

Here's a link to my craigslist ad, with several photos of the car:

1999 JAGUAR XJR

Update: The link is no good, as some yahoo keeps flagging my listing. I hate craigslist...

Of course, Jag forum members are more responsible than a lot of the responses I'll get from craigslist, so established members of this forum are more than welcome to test drive the car. You can ignore the part of the craigslist ad where I insist on seeing cash before a test drive. Just trying to keep the joy riders at bay... lol

And, just to throw this out there, I may consider an X-Type for trade, with only $1000-$2000 cash on your end, depending on mileage and condition of the X-Type.

Just putting this to the top. I'm willing to deal if anyone is interested. I'm giving up on craigslist, because someone keeps flagging my listing.

Just bumping this ad back to the top. Still no serious inquiries, other than one guy offering to trade his 02 Honda CBR (Like I'm going to ride that in the winter, lol) and another guy who wanted to trade his 1995 Ford F-150 (Really? I mean... REAAALLLYYY???)

I'm not looking to buy, but the p0400 code is likely caused by the supercharger bypass vacuum diaphragm leaking. Pull vacuum on it and it should hold. If not replace it. It may help the driveability issue as well. Maybe you'll want to keep the car then.

Thanks. I'll have to look into that.

Still have to sell it, though. I'm up to my eyeballs in debt, and can't afford the payment any longer... lol

Update:

Driveability issue has been solved. Just had water in the tank. Runs perfect now.

$4500 is my bottom line price, or I will trade for a nice 4WD or AWD vehicle plus $500 on your end.

Due to some debts that I really need to pay off, I am willing to drop my price to $4000 firm if someone buys the car this week. I really hate having to sell her, but I am up to my eyes in bills.

We can consider this thread closed. I'm going to stick to local offers, as I don't feel the car is worth travelling long distance for.
