Beautiful 1998 XK8 convertible. Black exterior (paint and top) cashmere leather interior (code SDZ), chrome wheels- gorgeous car. One owner since 2000 (was dealership's owner's car originally). Garage kept and much work done- runs/drives perfectly, everything works. However, transmission is dying- needs to be replaced. 122k careful miles

Summary of major work completed

Brake pads and rotors (front and rear)
New fuel pump
Upper and lower timing tensioners
Brand new Michelin Pilot tires all around
New thermostat housing
Heater hoses
+ much more (stack of receipts 1" thick dating back to 2000)

Cosmetically very good/excellent with only detractors minor wear on driver's seat bolster and cranky center cupholder.

Has clean California title and current registration

Unfortunately have too many projects- this has to go

Asking $3850 and worth every penny- if you can find a nicer early XK8 for less, buy it.

Just a thought, If you replaced the transmission you would be in the $7 to 9K range. Here's a local source.

If I didn't already have an XK8 I would consider it.

 

Yeah, I know the trans could be replaced, but the owner (a friend of mine) doesn't want to put any more $$ into the car.

So it becomes a good deal for someone else. And there are good used transmissions on Ebay with known mileage and a warranty for $1000 or thereabouts...
