How tall are you though? That looks like you need to be sitting down in a chair to be at the right height?

I usually have a couple of flight cases stacked on top of a little trolley to get the laptop up at an ergonomical height

 

My driver's license says 5'8" but gravity has pulled me down over the last 45 years since that was issued. I lost about an inch.

I usually AM sitting down on the driver's seat with my legs out the door so it is at a good height, ESPECIALLY when IDS wants "TURN IGNITION SWITCH ON, TURN IGNITION SWITCH OFF, TURN IGNITION SWITCH ON, TURN IGNITION SWITCH OFF" etc.

I can 'undock' the laptop and set it on top of the car or have it inside with me if I need to.

Some good news, I managed to secure some more genuine / original VCM's, ex-Mazda dealer ones. Although these ones did not come with cables.

I have ordered two sets of new cables, so that I have a couple of complete kits.

The cables are still available from Bosch / Rotunda, see here OneRotunda VCM for $448 USD per pair, free delivery in the USA, plus taxes if you live in a tax state.

There is little point in me buying cables in the US, sending them to Australia, and sending them back again.

So you can get a tested and working VCM from me, and brand new cables direct from Rotunda.

For people outside the USA, well I have a couple with cables...

Bit of a bump, I picked up a couple more of these original VCM's, came from dealerships, have been inspected and tested on my cars, and have good cables with them.
