For Sale: 2001 XJR Beautiful 87,000 mi
Selling my 2001 XJR with 87,000 mi. Anthracite offset very nicely with chrome Asteroids. Shed with Pirerlli tires almost new. Charcoal interior in beautiful condition. Non-smoker.
Tensioners have been replaced along with an oil change at 84,000 mi. This is NOT a Nikasil lined motor - I have a written statement from Hornsburg Jaguar to prove it. Car comes with full service records from day 1. Serviced at Hornsburg Jaguar by the previous owner. Now being serviced by Pasadena Motor Cars. I also just replaced the engine lower cover as the old one came lose and scraped on the road.
The car comes with books. I received 1 master key, 1 valet key and 1 transmitter.
This XJR is fully loaded:
-Factory Navigation
-Rear Park Distance control
-Chrome Asteroid Wheels with wheel locks
-6 CD Changer w/Alpine Premium Sound
-Front and rear heated seat
-Light window tint
-etc.
It is garage kept. Car is not leaking any fluid, no smoking, no codes.
It starts and drives like a new car. Transmission shifts smoothly. Driven by a mature owner.
There are several reasons for this sale:
a) I recently acquired another motorcycle, increasing my toy count
b) I have an Alfa Romeo Spider that I use as my daily driver to cover 70 or more miles per day
c) the XJR tends to spend most of its time in the garage with uses on weekend, mostly evening outings. I refuse to drive this car to work and leave it under the sun for most of the day - its just way too nice for that
d) the wife does not want to drive it as its too big for her. She prefers her 328i
The only minor issues are the antenna mast will not retract all the way down (has a visible kink in the lower section). I will replace that.
The steering wheel tilt works fine but does not extend automatically. I posted this on the forum and it seems as a very common issue with X308s. It will need a $40 cable replaced. I will compensate for that by providing the buyer with a brand new RealGauge that I purchased on the forum. The buyer will also receive a transmission dip stick.
This car is gorgeous but its also a car that has been driven meaning there will be small scratches here and there.
Car has a clean title, clean car fax and is currently registered. I will also include personalized plates that read "X308 SC" - a big bonus as I have buyers for the plate alone.
The price is $10,000 firm. As explained above, this is not a "forced" sale. This car is for someone who is looking for a perfect XJR that can be enjoyed immediately. I would have no reservation of driving it cross country.
I do apologize for a "half hearted" picture, but the decision to put the XJR for sale was just reached after a long conversation with my wife. Please PM me with your email for pic's or any questions.

I plan on adding more pics today but will be glad to send a picture of any areas of the vehicle by request. Ask way and I will get you the info you are looking for. After following several threads describing the quest to find a clean XJR, I am confident that I have the right car for a serious buyer.

pictures
I took quite a bit of pics - passenger compartment, trunk, exterior, engine bay. Too many to post all at once, so I will start with some of the interior pics adding a couple here and there. I threw in the outside corner shot just to set the mood.
If anyone needs a pic of a particular area please let me know. The plates in the picture are no longer the plates for the car. They will have the X308 SC plates. I just didn't bother replacing them. I will have to check if the personal plates can leave the state, though.

Just did an oil change at 88,000 miles and inspected. Rear tires down on thread. Will take that into account price wise. Antenna mast ordered and will be installed before the Queen's English show in the Los Angeles area on April 14. I've just registered so go I will.

Two new developments on my XJR:
1) Antenna mast replaced - antenna works like new
2) Finally got around to installing RealGauge. Works like a charm, can't believe someone would pass on this mod.
3) Car now has 89,500 miles on it. I've been waiting for my AR to leave the mechanic's lair and its going to happen this week.
I decided to be flexible on the price, within reason. Very few of these cars can be found in such condition as this one. Anyone interested please feel free to contact me.
Picture of the XJR at the last Queen's British car show (it also received good amount of attention at the last Supercar Sunday):

Hi Bethany, sorry I missed your post. I went to update the mileage and noticed your inquiry. The car is still for sale. The mileage is 89,200. I don't want keep accruing miles on the car so it's pretty much being used once a week for going out in the evening. If interested please contact me for details. Thanks.

The cat is sold
My beatiful XJR found a new home. I know that down the road I will probably regret selling it just like I did my Audi 5000s. However, I could not withstand the force of attraction of the Alfa Romeo.
Just so happens that after selling the XJR, I found this 69 Berlina. Its on its way to me from Colorado. A daily driver with a few needs. Nowhere as much power or comfort of the XJR but is a total blast to drive.
In the future, I plan to make a comeback to the Jaguar camp but this time I will be searching for an X300 R. Less power is more than compensated by the best engine ever to leave Coventry and less complex electronics. A standard LSD is a very nice touch.

Are you speaking about the white one? It seems nice in photos but what's with the wheels? bling on jags always raises red flags for me. There's a 1996 in the desert area that I may take a look at.
In the mean time I've been busy in the Alfa land. I currently have 2 1969 Berlinas. Just flipped a 1991 AR 164L with manual. Great car but a bit complex for my mechanical abilities. Something right up your alley though. I will be selling one of the Berlinas (the one in the pics above) and keeping the much faster one. Also on the block will be my 2004 BMW Rockster Edition 80 (anniversary model). I also have been eyeballing 944s. I think the market is getting just right to buy one.

Hey George,
You're a busy guy, flipping cars like flapjacks. Did I actually see a compliment above on an Alfa Milano, undoubtedly the world's most hideously designed automobile, the only car that looks like it's already been rear ended straight from the factory? Let's get together soon.

Lets definitely get together. I have an eye on a 96 XJR I wanted to talk to you about. Also, I'm back at looking at 944s. I feel these have hit the bottom and are actually on their way up. Fun daily driver for not a lot of money and not service hogs.
Cheers, George

George,
Let's talk soon, as for 944s. they are certainly cheap, nowadays, so are their big brothers, the 928s, some good buys out there.

Currently searching for a blue and cream 03-06 Range Rover for the spouse on a budget so we shall see how I do.
