2000 Jag stock stereo removed & Updated to a Double Din Navi/DVD/CD/MP3 etc..
Please note: Pictures where taken with my iPhone!
As promised here is my $1400 plus Touch Screen Pioneer Avic-Z2 on my 2000 Jag. Took me forever to find the harness but I found it at crutchfield.com. Here is the link for that harness if anyone needs one.

A friend of mine and I installed this beauty. Harness cost me $12.99 plus S/H. So I saved some money on the install. Lol.
I have it connected to a bluetooth adapter, Pioneer Mic and Ipod adapter (a must). All cables are hidden and I managed to pass the ipod adapter thru the valet parking inside the glove department. The above pictures is how it looks like. I'm in love with it. Best thing of the whole car I would say. Navigation is GREAT, DVD plays nice, Ipod loving it, etc.
If you guys have upgraded to a double din stereo's posted up here and let us know you experience, how much for install, likes or dis-likes, etc. You have any questions hit me up.
PS. Does anyone know where to make a custom kit for my Jaguar 2000 S Type V6. As you can see in the pictures there are gaps which I can live by but it would be nice to find a website or someone that makes custom kits for cars.
Thanks in advance Jag Fans!

I'm interested in how you got the top let corner fascia to attach to the head unit. The stocker has the two little holes that hold it against the spring and mine flopped around and didn't stay until I modded the face plate.

Ever think about cutting out some wood and making something like that, just for cosmetics sake? Looks good though!
If you want to keep steering wheel controls you need a PAC SWI-PS Interface which is a small box that plugs into the back of many mainstream brand of head units and you connect a couple wires or less to a wire/s under your ignition. It's pretty easy and instructions come with the interface.
BTW for the future of anyone that has the older s-type's the harness can be had from walmart for around 8 bucks. It's a very basic ford harness!

I think this is it..Metra Electronics Corp. - 70-1770..from everything I've seen the harness for your s-type is the same as the one I used in my 94 f150. It is a 2 flat rectangular connectors, one is black one is gray. I'd go to walmart and look at the schosche one's that look like this...you'll only pay like 6 or 7 bucks for it.

Good job on that install! I got the AVIC-D2 installed on my S-Type. How did you get the Jaguar screen on your nav display? Also how'd you get the left fascia trim piece attached back to the radio?
PS - I recently put in the stock nav screen in place of the pocket. Now I'm trying to figure how to hook it up. I'll post some pics soon.

Look on the AVIC forums for that info, I know on my N3 its just a switch under this silver sticker, but be warned this will void all warranties associated with your head unit. Only do it to a used older one, but I do think with these ones its just a wire that you need to ground out.

A switch on the unit and grounding a wire will put that Jaguar logo on the display? Are you sure? You don't need to upload any kind of software to the nav unit? Interesting...
I'll look for a switch first, I guess. Let you know how it goes.

How much did the installation cost and how many hours work did the installation entail ? I have heard that S-Type 2000 has a non-standard car radio bracket and that the installation would cost at least $500 labor.
Certainly would be good to replace the cassette radio (surprising they were still making them in 2000) and remove the CD changer from the glove compartment.

I'm still running the stock speakers, they sound okay for the time being. However, once I get around to putting my system in, those stock speakers will be replaced. You will notice a cleaner sound with the new head unit, but wont be able to crank the volume.... the stock speakers can't handle it.
