Default Alignment units

My '05 STR front tires show scrubbing on the inside edges. In any event, they need to be replaced and I will get an alignment done at that time. Just want to be sure I understand the correct specs so I appear to be intelligent when I speak to the alignment people.

Brutal says: "For each front wheel, the more toe-in towards +.13, the better. Combined front toe-in should therefore be as close to +.26 as possible".

Technical Bulletin S204-12 says "check and adjust the front suspension toe setting to the modified setting of +0.1 deg. (0deg 0.06') total toe, set equally left-hand and right-hand side".

Assuming the Brutal and the TSB specs mean the same thing, what exactly are the 2 sets of units involved?

There's a nice word document in the FAQ, it lists instructions for the installer of what to do first...

Got it!

Brutal's specs are in decimal degrees, whereas the TSB specs are in degrees and minutes. Thank you!

Well, I had the alignment done today. Car had 53,000 miles on it, supposedly lady-driven. The results are on the attachment (hope I did it right) - note that:

The Column "Before" shows the settings when I got the car.
The Column "After" shows settings after the alignment was done.
Numbers in green indicate value within specified range.
Numbers in red indicate value not within spec.

I'm sure glad I had this done within 100 miles of buying the tires. Would much appreciate any comments from other members.

Hey guys, would be really interested if someone with alignment experience could have a look at the attached doc in my previous post. What I would like to know is whether those way-out settings in red were caused by potholes or whatever, or are just the result of normal wear and tear over 50000 miles.

I would say that's normal, even pretty decent if the car hadn't been aligned ever, or in the last few years. Those numbers aren't really that far out; the front toe would be a concern but I wouldn't consider it outrageous to any extent.

Thank you for that reply. When I first got the car 2 months ago the steering didn't seem stable, tended to pull one way or the other especially when there were uneven surfaces in the road. I just figured that must be how Jags behave, until I saw the scrubbing on the inside of the front tires.
Now, after alignment, the steering is perfect.
