Did you try the trunk release button in the trunk? it's on the left side near the plate holder. I would make sure the valet function is disabled before trying the two trunk release buttons (one one the dash, the other in the trunk). Also you may want to try the key again and hitting the trunk release button on the trunk itself.

In an effort to recreate the situation, I just went out and lifted up on the bootlid of my wife's 05 fairly aggressively and pressed the button while doing so. It popped open with a jerk (my chin will heal
)
Kksgirl must've really stuffed it tight if that's what's going on! I stopped short of "brute force and awkwardness" not wishing to explain to the wife why her trunk wouldn't latch anymore......

Hope you got it resolved already, but on the seat removal thing...
After you remove the lower seat, and the lower bolts on the back seat. Pull the side cushions off and you'll find a bolt about half way up on the side of the seat. Remove those on both sides and then you should be able to pry the seat up from the bottom far enough to reach in the trunk and pull the seat release to fold the seat down. Thiers not much room but trust me, if you want in you can reach. (Wife locked the only keys in their once)

This...just be careful when twisting the lock cylinder with your key. It is likely you've never used this method to open the trunk as most owners have not I don't think, so it may be a little sticky. But turning the cylinder manually with some downward pressure like Mikey said should pop it open.
