help I install a used engine in 2004 s type jaguar,the engine runs fine but for some reason the transmission will not engage into any gears forward or reverse an the transmission fault lite is on @ dash,,how may I correct this promblem

Did you forget to install the torque converter drive plate bolts????????????????

I was thinking the same thing. OR, is there enough fluid in the transmission? Did it all drain out the cooler lines when they were disconnected?

thanks to everyone who replied,all the bolts are in the torque converter,however im not sure if the fluid level is @ max,i lost about a quart of fluid but I pour about 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart into the tranny lines @ the hose to the radiator,there is a broken connector @ the steering servo an also no codes are present @ this time,,,help help sleepless in dallas,,,I should have stayed in school an been a highly paid politician.

Can you check the fluid?
That could be the problem.

Has to be checked at proper temperature and engine running etc as posted on here often.

Could this be a computer issue with putting in a new motor?
