Though the mechanic said it's not...it's the double wishbones. Take a large screwdriver and pry up and down on the lowest section of the wishbone that looks more like a control arm. It will clunk. Call Coventry West (Atlanta, GA.) for a salvaged piece (I took this route).

You need to change the front sway bar mounting bushings. The end links which you changed are only part of the problem.

To prove this unbolt the end links you installed and drive the car over roads where the clunk happens. If no noise change the bushings. Be aware that the dealer will want to sell you a kit including the sway bar itself and the bushings. You can get aftermarket bushings in rubber or Poly if you want something stiffer.

I think they're what we call ARB (anti-roll bar) bushes. Apparently he's been told they're OK. Not convinced he's been told right!

Start a new thread. Don't muck up this one. Please report back after you unhook the sway bar end links to see if the noise goes away. There is no way to inspect the sway bar bushings. You must do the test as explained.

Well don't get too mad at him. This list is just for S Types so we have seen and know most of the problems by now.

Let us know if it fixed the noise completely because it can be a combination of things but the sway bar bushings are a known problem.
