Default S Type surge

Just picked up the car from the third shop. Mechanic claims the surging is an engine issue. Have been told by two transmission shops that it is a transmission issue. They told me the first step to correcting problem is to have the car reflashed. Problem is the nearest Jaguar dealer is about 90 miles away. Need to find some independent shop that can do it. Does anyone know of a shop in Northern Indiana that works on Jaguars?

Sounds like a dirty throttle body to me.

Is this a continuation of this problem?

Judging by the posts over the years, very unlikely. Why do you think so?

Yes this is a continuation of the same problem. Don't know what to do. No one wants to replace the torque converter. They all tell me they don't have the software to program the transmission. Hard telling what a dealer might charge.

I had a recommendation added to my list of repair shops and one of them is in Indiana.

But the description has changed. People are willing to help but you've got to at least answer their questions to make progress.

3rd request-

Does the RPM fluctuate on the tach when the rumbling/surging occurs?

Are you aware jaguar recomend NEVER cleaning the throttle body as it has a coating that if removed means you need a new one.

Just got the car back yesterday from a diagnostic shop with no fix. I can't see any fluctuation in the tach.

Said there were no codes in transmission, but their are no codes in the engine either. He claims the rumble noise is from a worn rear lower control arm bushing. But don't want to put over $700 in bushing and not fix the surging. I told him if surging is an engine issue I want to resolve that first.

If there's no change in engine RPM there's no 'engine surging' to fix.

I appreciate the help. There is definitely a surge going on but I don't see any thing going on with the tach.

Maybe post a video so we can see/hear exactly what's going on.

I'm not sure it couldn't be a universal joint/wheel bearing issue at this point.

Its a Ford-designed throttle body. There are coating safe cleaners. I'm smart enough to use those.

Apparently, you didn't know that such a product existed.

Not much about jags apparently.

Servicing a car and diagnosing and repairing it are different things.

A trained chimp can service a Car etc......... ..

I have cleaned the TB in both my cars and to date my Jaguar has not disciplined me for it. This is the way I do it.
