I would probably test at 100 psi, certainly not lower than 90 as said. Not sure if pressure/pulsation waves can have an effect as well, but if so, it will prove the importance of the dampers. At idle you run probably about 60 psi.
You should turn it around; Aston Martin is using the Jaguar fuel pulsation dampers.
I just find it hard to believe that you couldn't install the damper right, the fuel injectors are the same (where the o ring goes on, and how it fits in the bucket), and that’s an easy diy. The only difference is that the damper unit is shorter, and allows for it to be installed in a slight angle, and there I can understand you would not create an even seal obviously, but looking at the unit, you should be able to get it aligned properly.
Nevertheless I fully understand that you want to close the fuel rail, instead of trying it out though.

The pic below shows the original (blue) o-ring from the damper, and the nearest size my indy could find, taken from a new injector. I took one look and forecast failure, even though it passed the 55 psi pressure test. My indy agreed not to charge me if I was correct.
In the end, if the Jag was to go back on the road anytime soon, we had no choice but to seal off the dampers.

Just checked the o-rings, and the rubber itself is about 3.69mm in dia compared to the stock injector ring which is about 3.60. The o-ring is also slightly smaller with a od of 14.13mm compared to the fuel injector one 14.36.
Both are fit in the same cup id size, and the id of the fpd and injector where it fits on are the same, so I would guess that the injector o-ring might work as well.
If I ever get a chance to test I certainly will try it.

leaky fuel rail damper verses leaking O rings
I have read everything on forum about this problem,my 2003 S type r 4.2 has fuel smell in cabin at engine start,at least it did in cold winter,as soon as temp outside reached, 70 to 80+for several months,fuel leak stopped ,which seems to suggest,o rings on damper,had to swell,stopping this problem,we had a couple of nights 50 to 60 temp leak was back again,lasted a few days temp returned to 70,80+problem was gone as I was able to visually see the leak around damper,also I could visually see that leak had stopped when temp was up again. has anyone noticed this ,I use 93 not sure of ethanol content ,but problem ceased completely at higher constant outside temp,make this O ring problem much more unexplainable,any one else notice this,turk in Pittsburgh.

Whether your problem was caused by ethanol attacking the o-ring or not does not matter any longer. You have a dangerous fuel leak in the engine compartment, a fire hazard.
New fuel rails for the STR are not available, so replacement is not possible. The correct o-rings are no longer available, so repair of the damper is not possible.
Unless I am wrong and you get lucky, the only solution is to plug and seal off the damper as I did. The good news is that it works just fine, especially with a V8 engine.

Found More information on Fuel Dampers
After reading the very informative posting on the fuel damper problem I found the attached reference about replacing the dampers. (See attached file in pdf format.) I also wondered over to Jaguar Las Vegas where I have been buying parts lately and found both the fuel rail for under $800 and the damper for $111. Since a picture was not included in the description I'm not sure as to whether the fuel rail includes the respective dampers or whether the $111 price on the damper is each. I have inquired with the parts department at JLV to see what I need to buy and how many.

Very interesting, and nice to know that dampers are now available as a separate item. Those new o-rings look suspiciously like the original ones that DuPont said was attacked by alcohol, but they do seem to go for several years before any leaks develop.
For the record, I have had no more trouble since the damper chamber was sealed off 4 years ago.

Life savers
My husband and I are new to the jag forum. We have a 07 S Type with 4.2. The information in this thread has been extremely valuable to us. We started off thinking we needed to purchase a new fuel rail to stop the leak.
The only aj83838 I can locate right now is in Houston TX but non the less I'm thrilled.
Any helpful added info would be greatly appreciated
