Supercharger removal/coolant leak repair
I've been trying to find specific instructions on how to remove the supercharger on my STR to repair a ruptured coolant hose. At first I took
the STR to the dealer because I have one of the vaunted certified Jag 6yr., 100K warranties, but found that hoses are not warranted nor is the labor to get to them when they are under the supercharger. My dealer wanted $1,850.00 for labor, just to get down to the hose to replace it. I'm not one to shell out that many sheckels for something I can do myself so...... I started trying in earnest to figure out how to use the JTIS workshop manual DVD I bought on Ebay last year. After lots of fumbling around and some great assistance from some other STR forum member, I finally figured out how to extract the information I needed from the JTIS and I'm going to attempt to attach it in pdf format in this message. I'm also including a list of parts, hoses, gaskets my dealer was going to order for the repair. I ordered them from www.jaguarpartscenter.com and they confirmed these were the parts I needed for the desired repair.

Just a tip ttwotees, keep relevant subject/topic matter in one thread, especially your own...I merged two of your threads regarding this supercharger removal, almost did another one too as it was practically the same content. It just gets messy when you spread it all around. Thanks.

The different posts are a result of my lack of experience. I thought posting under a new thread with the title supercharger removal would get more attention. I just don't yet understand how the forum posting works.

just to give you a heads up its not an easy task,make sure you replace all gaskets and rubber seals removed.good luck

Today, we managed to get part way through the supercharger removal but got
stumped later in the day with the removal of the EGR valve. It seems to be held in
place by two bolts and according to the instructions we are to remove the EGR valve
in order to remove other parts.
In the attached uploaded page 10 from the JTIS, step 25 instructs to remove the
exhaust manifold to EGR valve tube retaining nuts - We haven't yet been able to
locate these nuts. Step 26 instructs to remove the EGR valve and the exhaust
manifold to EGR valve tube by removing the retaining bolts (you can see in the
photograph the bolts have been removed). This leaves the black round top of the
EGR valve loose in it's pedestal, but we've had no luck extracting it (It seems to be
set into the pedestal and we can't tell if it's corroded to the pedestal or if the EGR
valve tube retaining nuts, which we still haven't found, are holding the entire EGR and
pedestal in place).

Can anybody give some experienced advice about removing the EGR valve assembly ?
I'm also including a couple of photos of our latest work status.

Removing the supercharger
I'm about half way through removing the blower, but I'm having trouble
with the EGR valve removal. I only see two bolts holding it in but it refuses
to budge. Am I missing some bolts ? I'm including a photo of the bugger
and a page from the JTIS removal instructions.

Maybe I'm not understanding the situation but I think by "EGR" that JTIS sometimes means the EGR actuator (the electric part) and sometimes that and all associated piping. Here, I think it means to remove the nuts holding the EGR piping onto the exhaust manifold. It sounds as if you're currently referring to the bolts holding the EGR actuator to the piping.
If I'm right, the nuts may be "hard" (very) to see / get at.

there are 2 bolts that bolt the egr mount to the intake, They go in from the side, remove them and leave the assembly there. When reassembliing, slot the gasket so you can slip the gasket down onto the already started bolts. This is another frustration point if you dont. You might also want to remove the intercoolers and clean them with strong grease/oil cutting cleaner, like liquid dish soap. This is just an **** thing to do to remove years of oil accumulation from the interior of the coolers to improve their thermal efficiency. Matter of fact I would on your personal job of this, remove and clean as much intake pieces as possible. And why not powder coat/paint the intercoolers then sand down the SUPERCHARGED embossed area to hilight them

But don't worry, as Brutal mentions the intake so I got it wrong when I thought it was the exhaust part. The EGR connects the two. I figured it was the same as a previous car I owned - but apparently it's not!

in the previous pics, the valve bolts down on a block, the exhaust pipe bolt to the block from the bottom and then the block has the 2 bolts that bolt the whole thing to the side of the intake plenum. These bolts go in side ways and these are the ones you want to remove to loosen the egr assembly from the intake
