Trip Computer Inop

Trip Computer Inop
Hi folks,
The trip computer on my 2005 S Type 3 Liter is inop.
When I push the button on the headlight stick, nothing happens, in addition nothing happens when I push any of the buttons on the control panel with the exception of Miles/Kilometers.
The car has right under 75 thousand miles on it.
Any ideas where to start troubleshooting? Could it be something as simple as a fuse?
Thanks in advance!
Scott

Setting the trip computer
At the start of the journey (or series of journeys) to be recorded, reset the computer memory to zero as follows: 1. Press the TRIP button on the end of the left column stalk switch to select a trip function. The computer will display either TRIP A: or TRIP B: data.
2. Press the A/B switch to select the trip (A or B) to be reset.
3. Press the RESET switch and hold for three seconds. The display will read: RESETTING TRIP A (or B). Then it will reset and display: A: 0 (or B: 0) or the new value. Note: All trip functions, for A or B depending on which was selected, will be reset.
Clearing messages
Messages can be hidden by pressing RESET on the trip computer switchpack. One press will hide one message. Once all messages have been hidden, the display will show trip data. If RESET is pressed again, all active messages will be ‘re-displayed’.
Repeatedly pressing the RESET button will cycle through the trip and message modes.
If a fault occurs when in trip computer, the relevant message will be displayed immediately. If a trip computer function is selected by
pressing the TRIP button while messages are displayed, the trip data will be displayed for ten seconds then the message will reappear. Hidden messages reappear after an ignition OFF/ON cycle, if the fault remains.
I don't think there is a fuse, Have you tried the Battery off 30 secs, and if that does not work, try a hard reset The method that I used was to remove the negative cable from the battery with the Ignition switch completly off, and touch it to the postive cable do not short the battery terminals which was still connected to the battery with the Ignition switch on, for a couple of seconds, then switch off the ignition and reconnect the battery.
but you will need radio codes etc. and a few trips for systems to relearn

I would not disconnect the battery with the key in the ignition, because various things are switched on just by it being in there. I feel you'd be taking an unwise risk with no reason at all to do so. There's no need to touch terminals if you wait a couple of mins, though with care you can do so if you prefer.

I'd rather not. It sounds like a really good way to fry some more electronics.

On my 1997 XK8
AFTER Pressing the TRIP button on the end of the left column stalk switch to select a trip function the LCD is functional. However none of the buttons on the dash clutter do anything. 000 will not reset any of the displays after holding for 3 seconds or more. A/B does not switch A to B , CLEAR and mi/km also do nothing.
Any insightful tips will be appreciated.
