Aren't most cars useless though? How many of us STR owners even use 400hp on the street? That is the beauty of a car, we buy them not because we need basic transportation (if we did, we would all have a Prius), but because it is a reflection or statement of our self.

Holy smoke!! If the STR is already within 10% of the tranny limit, I better be careful about adding another 40HP of power. On the other hand...

I had a Saab 9000 Aero automatic with a ZF tranny, ex factory 200HP. Was warned against upgrading because of ZF tranny limits. Did a massive power upgrade anyway, up to 350HP. From then on, only used "D" for crawling around town, used manual changes all other times, always avoiding auto change-downs when accelerating hard. 3 years later, car sold but still going strong.

So, I'm using the "J" gate more and more, in anticipation...

S-Type/STR isn't a "super sports car" but a four door luxury sports sedan...
