Default "Lurch" when we start moving

I have a 2005 S-Type 3.0.

Sometimes, there seems to be no pattern to it, the car lurches forward a foot or so quite suddenly when I come off the brake and move to the accelerator. The dealer flashed new software into the ROM. He said it would take perhaps 50 miles for the car to re-learn my driving patterns. However, it still does this.

Did I misunderstand the 50 mile issue or was there something special I was supposed to do? That was about 500 miles ago. Anything I can do now?

Sounds like the torque converter.. my car does the same thing, the converter flashes when I leave a stop light or sign and hopefully its going to fail soon so I can warranty it.. I don't think your problem is the software, that usually just makes your car shift harder and hold shifts longer. Its difficult to test for a broken converter, but I'll try to explain how when I get a chance later.. Eric

I thought the throttle body might have something to do with it

Read this
and let us know if you can classify it. If so, learn, take notes, and go to the dealer with some knowledge of your own. Mine lurches only slightly, and I have learned to prevent it by stopping completely. lol.

Ours is a Type 2 lurch. Guess I'll contact the dealer after Christmas.

Thanks.

Of the two, yours would bother me moreso than the Type 1. Good luck w/ the dealer, hope they can help you.
