Default It`s Been A While

I`ve had my 2003 S-Type R for more than 5 years. I bought it as a two year lease return and have enjoyed most every moment. I`ve never owned a daily driver for so long.

Her time has come. Tomorrow she`s going to a 63 year old man who bought her for his birthday and promises to pamper and love her.

I bought a 2011 Jeep Compass for the wife and am going to pick up a lease returned 2009 Audi RS4 (Jeep SRT8 was just too gas greedy).

Really kind of bummed but ready to try something new.....

Sellout! Naw good luck man! I always wanted an Audi, until I look under the hood and see that you have to be a small child to work on it.

Absolutely. And I'd be pleased to hear the good & bad points of the RS4 when you've had it 3 months or so.

Hey Marc, good to see you buddy......thought you'd done a runner?

Sorry to hear you're trading the Jag but times change and we move on.
Maybe I'll see you on the Audi sites, I have the A6 but not the beast you're getting you lucky bugger!

Hope all goes well and you decide to stick around for the craic, you're one of the longer serving members here and you'd be missed for sure.

Worst case scenario be sure to drop by at least from time to time and say hi.

Either way I wish you the best of luck with your new ride mate.

All the best

Jim

Hi Marc,

Good luck with the RS4, especially in winter. It should be fun. You should be thankful it still has a warranty because Audis can be as fussy as Jaguars if not more so. I did notice there seems to be quite a bit of cross-brand lusting between Jaguars and Audis. A keen eye will notice I now have one of each. The Audi I have is great in snow. When we had the DC snow storm this past year I had no problem getting around unlike the 30,000 or so that abandoned their cars.

I have to agree with Mike here....

As you know I used to have the X type and currently an A6.
Any spare time at the moment is spent almost equally looking at prices etc for Audi A8 and Jaguar XJR / XKR
Different cars I know but the ideal would be to have both, not that I'm greedy or anything....lol

I know I actually went from an Audi to a Jaguar. I'm putting my spare change in a jar so I can buy an R8 spyder. It will be in addition to the Jag so I should have one by about 2080. Used of course. All kidding aside I've always been a fan of all European cars. Audis are definitly fun ones to own. And definitly stick around.

Hey Marc, best of luck with your two new purchases, look forward to reading your reviews.

Don't forget to have the new owner of your STR sign up to the forum, that way we can continue to look after it for you, as it were

Hey Marc, is the car staying in La Belle Province (best poutine anywhere, je me souviens!) and is the new owner going to join us here?

Ladies and gentlemen, I sold my car to Myles Goodwyn (April Wine fame for those who are yet children). He`s happy as a pig in poop and I am too. I love the band and their songs and now one of the lead singers is driving my car. I`m sad, I feel as though I`ve made a mistake but I know that the owner is a cool dude who will take care of her. Be nice to me, I am really down right now. I loved that car...

Wow... April Wine lead singer! He needs to join up!

Hey, don't beat yourself up to bad. I know the feeling, I actually had the pangs of regret when I traded, of all things, the silver Accord 5-speed for the Jag. I really loved that car and had it dialed in nice. I will feel it again when I transfer the Dodge 600 to my son. It will be the only way I can get a new toy. I really have a desire to get something different...

Instead of focusing on selling off the STR, tell us some more about the Audi. You have a car that is rarer than the STR. It was only sold here (North America) for two years. While Audi has a storied line of RS cars, I think only the RS4 ever made it to the North American shores. At over 400hp, and with the V8, it was one of the few cars that Car and Driver actually liked more than their beloved M3!

So.... Pictures???

I get the Compass on Monday and will wait a couple of weeks before I go down the Audi road....it`s a lot of cash and I just bought a new house.

Myles says that he is going to join the forum...super nice guy.

Marc,

Once you get the Audi you can haunt the audiforums.com site. It's set up pretty much the same as jaguarforums.com. I normally visit both sites regularly. By the way, does your RS4 have the V8 or the supercharged V6? Maybe in a few years you can get an XF when the prices come down. Like Jim, I'm always "shopping" for the next Jaguar and Audi. If money were no object I would have an XKR convertible and an A6 Avant.

Mike
