01 s-type fuel pump problem
I've got an 01 s-type 4.0 V8 that when the fuel tank goes below half a tank it will start starving for gas. When you fill it back up, it runs fine. I've dropped the tank down and it has a fuel pump module on LH side and a fuel tank sending unit on the RH side. I would guess that it pulls from both sides. AM I right???

If I remember correctly, the LH pump feeds the RH pump, which in turn feeds the engine. The RH pump is the most common to fail. We have them for $163.73.

I got the tank all the way down and the LH side is actually a pickup/strainer/sending unit. and the RH side has the actual pump. I pulled mine(LH) out and it was bent from a previous repair. This actually my moms car and she is tired of being shafted. I think you guys are right that the left feeds the right. It just has the hoses connected together over the top of the tank. I hope this fixes my 1/2 full/ runs bad problem.

Do not install a used fuel pump!!!! Bad idea. Yes you have two fuel pumps. The one that you need is the Jet pump or the transfer pump. It's on the right hand side of the fuel tank. It's function is to keep the fuel level even between the two side of the fuel tank. Both fuel pumps can be worked on by removing the lower rear seat cushion. You can change either pump without draining the fuel tank. Here is a picture of a Lincoln LS but the Jaguar is the same.

LOL- I have been a systems analyst for 20years and played with Hot wheels, I'am not Jag certified and don't care.
As far as Testing a used fuel pump ,it canbe done several ways, this thread already said ''Don't drive on Empty''
I have no problem putting in a good used fuel pump with low hrs(mileage) for $30, especially if theres an access panel under the seat.
Look at it as saving and going green!
Wow! I bet you just saved your mom $500-$2000.
A DIESEL,AUTO,HVAC,and a Systems Eng to work on JAGS who arn't JAG certified!
