took the relays off one at a time replacing them. didnt clean the connections yet because i have no spray but i'll try that tomorrow. so you guys dont think it could just be the tps? id rather spend 200 on that than pay 600 for a tb that prob isnt bad. jag said they took it off and cleaned it when i first took it in for this issue 6 mos ago.

As I had mentioned in your alldata thread, I believe that your are looking at a rebuilt TB to resolve your problem. Unfortunately when the TB is compromised (with high pressure or even low pressure water) 99.8 percent of the time the TB has to be replaced.

Just my thoughts.

Don't confuse TPS and TB. If what you've done so far doesn't fix things you'll probably be getting either a TB fix or replace (used will do).

I'm not confusing the two. The tps is located on the top front side of the tb, fastened with two star bolts and a plug. idk if i've clarified but i never pressure washed the engine bay. Only the grill. that shoulda been the closest either one of those came to water. and theres replacement tps's out there, i just dont understand why everybody jumps to the tb issue when it could be the sensor as well. which is a cheaper fix. and thats not to mention possible loose connections in a map sensor. which i havent checked yet but i am today, as well.

Sorry although I have not had the issue that you are inquiring about, I have read many, many similiar posts over the years. The answer and resolution is (was) replacing the throttle body. If the vehicle was under warranty dealer would replace with a new one, if no warranty then other owners went the ebay route and purchased a rebuilt unit, and it resolved their issues.

You asked my thoughts in another post, I have only given you what I have read, again over the years. A search may help enlighten you, I hate to say that. By all means if you can just replace the TPS then go for it, I am all about saving money and I believe that my "How To's" show that.

Have you checked the electrical connections to the TB yet? If not, that should be your next move (provided you have checked all related fuses and relay's) Water can penetrate the TB from the cowl - odds are if you sprayed the front of the vehicle - you could have gotten water on the hood/windshield, that could have entered the engine bay through the cowl.

This site is designed to provide feedback based on "experiences" - in throwing my $0.02 on the TPS - thread carefully! The TPS is not "adjustable" - you will find that the 2 "star" bolts that attach the TPS are "tamper-proof" - there's a reason why those bolts are "tamper-proof".

Typically, the TPS rarely fails - again, the consensus on the forum is if you need to replace the TB - get a used unit.

Our 2005 S-Type's throttle body and windshield cowl were replaced under the factory warranty in May 2009 due to moisture issues causing a limp mode condition when my wife was behind the wheel. No throttle body moisture issues since. When the hood is open, I allow no water within fifty feet of our Jaguars....

Without rereading all 28 posts, if you believe there is a wiring problem. There is a main wire connection smack dap center of the engine compartment, right under the cowl up against the firewall (yes it is a PIA to get to). There have been a few members that have found chaffed wires in that harness. If the wires are chaffed then water running behind the cowl would most certainly wind up soaking that harness.
