Default '03 S Type 3.0 Water Pump

I have a 2003 S Type, 3.0L, with approximately 77,000 miles ( 123,900 Km) on it. The water pump was making noise, and is now leaking coolant. I have a few questions before I replace it: Is it better to replace the whole pump with its housing as a unit, or purchase the pump without the housing, and install the new pump with gasket back into the existing pump housing? Prices vary greatly, the OEM Jaguar pump is $300 plus dollars (£182+), and was wondering if an '03 Lincoln LS pump would be an exact match, it is slightly more than half the price of the Jaguar pump. I searched for cross referencing the Jag/ Lincoln pumps, couldn't find a definitive answer. Any other tips/tricks along with replies greatly appreciated!

I don't know about the LS pump but it would be interesting info if you find the answer.

I got a pump from Amazon which only lasted about a year before it started dripping through the seals but they replaced it with no quibbles the second is fine so far, I don't recall the price but much less than the Jag part.
The pump comes with the outer part of the casing containing the bearings and seals.

You will never find the LS and S Type parts together. Ford and Jaguar worked very hard to hide this connection.

I would order both water pumps. Compare them and return either the one that is not correct or the one that is most expensive.

My bet is the Lincoln LS part will work fine. Just check to be sure!

A quick search makes me think they are the same also.

Well, I decided to go with a $37.00US (£22.47) Airtex water pump from Rock Auto. I priced the Lincoln LS pump which is Motorcraft part no. 8501 (PW-430) at $140.00US(£85.03)I would have to order it, and ordered parts are not returnable, as I'm not sure its a 100% fit with the Jag. (Probably is, but I didn't want to take a chance). I checked with a Jaguar parts supplier. They had the OES unit for $338US,(£205.28) and an "aftermarket" one for $199US. (£120.86) They couldn't confirm the aftermarket manufacturer, so I didn't want to risk buying an Airtex or equivelent for 199 when I know what I'm getting for 37! I'll roll the dice and see how this one holds up. There's a one year warranty on it.

Airtex is a low level import brand but many people have used their parts without problem too.

I've been finding online in my water pump searches that allegedly Airtex is the vendor for Ford Motorcraft waterpumps? Who knows. I should be receiving this pump early next week, I'll install it, and see how long it lasts. Thank you Norri and tbird6 for your replies! In the meantime, I'll prep for the job, and fix my drooping headlight, change out my wheelnuts, and fuel filter, and a make a list of the other little issues with this car!
