Default 03 STR Coolant leak Help

I have a 03 STR that is not my daily driver and I don't drive very much during the winter. Lately anytime the car sits for more than a week I will get a coolant leak that runs to the front of my car. When I top it back off and start the car and check for leaks I get nothing. I continue to check after the cars been parked for several day and still nothing. I plan on getting under the car to see if I can figure out whats leaking. Was just wondering if this makes sense and if anyone has had this problem. Thanks

The hose nipples on the plastic coolant reservoir are the usual suspects. They crack and leak after just a few years of sitting in the heat and cold. Some of the poorest-quality plastics you'll ever see in a vehicle. Plenty of threads here describing where to look in order to find your leak. Your best bet is to replace the reservoir with a new one once you've identified it as your culprit....

Agreed. Just did the same thing on a 03 S-type R.

I had the same issue and first replaced the reservoir tank as it was leaking out of the bottom where the sensor locks in. A little later I discovered a pinhole leak on the passenger side plastic side piece on the radiator. A tab on the bottom was leaking. Replaced the radiator which you can only get from Jaguar.

Replacing that radiator was a friggin' nightmare...

Wow, the leaks looks like its coming from the passenger side but again I haven't been under the car yet. I appreciate all the help. I will check out
older threads on how to locate the leak. Thanks

If it's the passenger side and not the radiator check the DCCV. Those almost always need to be replaced anyway. So if any red staining on the DCCV get it changed before it damages the CCM or RCCM.

Much on this list about the DCCV.

If you end up replacing any of the coolant plastic parts I'd recommend using a bit of silicone grease (Napa or Dow 111) on the fittings before assembly. it reduces the stress on these POS components (made with recycled model airplane leftover bits) during the install and in the future.

Also, get the special tool for removing the hose clamps. Way less stress on you and the car.

Amazon.com: Dow Corning 111 Valve Lubricant & Sealant 6 Grams: Home Improvement

NAPA AUTO PARTS

I prefer the Dow 111 but I'ved the Napa as well.

Leftover model airplane parts? I heard the coolant tanks were made from rejected DD-cup implants at the local Jiffy Boob franchises....

Why do you say the radiator is only available from Jag?

Does anybody know what the difference is between the cheaper "OE replacement" radiators ($100-130) versus the more expensive "OE equivalent" $450 ones? The only thing I can see is the equivalent one says "Integrated transmission oil cooler when applicable."

I haven't torn mine apart yet... does the R have a tranny cooler built into the radiator?

Thanks.
