Default 03 STR Odd feel when driving?

I haven't has the STR long and bought it when it was very icy on the roads and as such the handling was wierd.

Recently I have done more driving in the car and covered quite a few miles in it now; I find that when driving at about 30mph the car feels a little vague on the straight - it's absolutely fine and feels great when driving around tight bends and at speed though; is this usual or what could be wrong?

ALso; I find that when maneuvering at low speeds with full lock on the front wheels drag on the road as if they're slipping sideways; I'm guessing that this is due to the steering being on full lock, width of tyre etc. and isn't a big concern?

I would have the alignment checked. Incorrect toe setting can cause the concerns you have and wear out those expensive tires fast. That said, the fat tires and turned on the locks will sometimes cause the sideways slip you describe. Don't expect an alignment to completely stop the vague feeling you describe either. The aggressive alignment specs on the R models will contribute to this feeling of the car going where it wants to. Just push the kitty hard and loose in some turns and the reason for those alignment settings becomes apparent.

Yes; that sounds exactly right; the car does seem to go where it wants to but then driving the winding peak roads we have here is an absolute joy and the turn in is awesome; the car feels much smaller than it is and can be chucked into bends like I never imagined possible with a car of this size - I guess the CATS is working as it should

Sounds like it's nothing to worry about which is nice - thanks for the info

Definitely make sure you're front alignment is done correctly with the modified toe setting so that your tires dont go bald on the inside.

My first set of p-zeros on the car lasted me only 10,000 miles because the factory alignment was so screwed up. Kind of annoying considering how much each tire cost to replace...about $400 each at the time.
