As Mafioso suggests, you'll def know the difference between the 6 and 8 Camaro. It also depends on what part of the powerband and speed you were playing with this Camaro. The STR can be a dog at low speed when it's hot out but a Camaro killer at highway speed. I did up a 2010 SS from 75 mph-on (with some mods). The STR is a tough ride to beat 75 mph on. This is her territory; considering her tall gearing and powerband. Def. get that "Mafioso" air intake elbow with a K&N a/f. Remove the actuated baffle on lower case of a/f box, pop on a set of hi-flow cats (don't go too far with the exhaust at this juncture), and pop on a 1.5 pulley, hard re-set the ECU, drive her for 300 miles in "Normal" trans. mode then hard in "Sport" trans. mode...that'll put a smile back on yer face.

bfsgross- what do you think your HP is with those mods? Any times? I just bought my 2003 STR and absolutely love the style, stealth and sport to this cat, but always interested to get the most out of it.

She put out 360 rwhp while heat soaked. I mentioned not to go too crazy with the exhaust for now till we figure out how to tune the ECU and add a "Chiller Killer" to cool down the intercooler and charge cooler. For now a safe bet is a drop-in K&N a/f, "Mafioso" air intake elbow, low temp. thermostat, 1.5 pulley, hi-flow cats, and a new fuel filter. Begin here to increase throttle response and hp/trq. She'll sound nice too.

Who sells a lower temp thermostat for the STR?

In my 04 STR, I ran against a 11 Camaro SS and was just about even up to about 75. (Couldn't go faster due to traffic conditions. )
I had a rolling start recently with a 13 Camaro (ZL1) LSA where we played with each other up to 40mph. Then when we got a clean stretch of road, the LSA took off and had about a car length ahead of me at 70+.

That seems odd? I don't think the 4.2L thermostat changed for the entire time? They are all the same I thought?

Just noticed in the link I provided, it states "not for 2007 or newer models." Not sure what changed.

Bfsgross what does hard resetting the ECU do? And how do you go about doing this? Just disconnecting the negative battery terminal for several minutes? I'm guessing this is good to do after you perform mods?

It's supposed to reset fuel trims/timing maps so the car starts from zero and refuels for added airflow and different load cells.

When I first got my str I raced a 2010+ Camaro ss a few times and I was surprised were pretty much even with me starting to slightly pull ahead when he let off. I thought he would of killed me. We raced from a stop too with the same results
