05 4.2 N/A manifold coolant hose leak ... what else to replace
Gents,
My wife's 05 4.2 just developed the coolant hose leak under the manifold. While these hoses are replaced, is there anything else easily accessible that ought to be replaced as a practical matter?
Is there a thread on doing this job for a N/A car?
Cheers,
Rob

Thanks. Pulled the manifold today and I'll try to post pics and part nos. for the hose tomorrow. There was just one hose and it circled back into the housing.
As for my wife's 05 and my 03, it's interesting just how different the feel is between the 05 4.2 and 03 STR. It's not the power, it's how the STR planted so differently. Then, the 84 is a lightweight test car with hot engineering cams and she's a sports car not a tourer, and feels closer to an e-type than a v12 xjs. So, they're all fun cars in their own way.
Cheers.

Sounds and looks like you got a handle on the under manifold coolant hose issue. keeping track of nuts and bolts, wire connector, and vaccume lines seem to be the pain the a*&s that most report whilst tackling the job. As you're aware, the STR has an electronic suspension and beefed up hardware.

Thanks.
The car's back together and runs better. I'd been throwing a check engine light for random misfires over the winter after short hops. We couldn't find any evident vacuum issues and thought maybe a leaking injector. Also, I thought the car didn't feel right under low rpm loads. When we pulled the manifold it appeared someone had removed the manifold at some earlier time and either didn't change the gaskets or didn't torque the bolts down correctly. We think it wasn't sealing well and worn. We also pulled a lot of connectors and if any that mightn't been connecting well were reconnected properly. At any rate, the car feels and sounds better at low rpms. Cleaned the throttle body a little but I think putting in the new gaskets on a cleaned surfaced has improved the run condition so I'm happy. Also happy my wife had the good sense to not run the car hot when the hose blew.
Cheers.
