Default 05 s-type: where is the CAS?

Desperately need help here. My 05 s-type (usa model) turns over but will not start. After much research on these forums it turns out that it "might" be the crank angle sensor (CAS) terminals which might need to be cleaned. However for the life of me I cannot find the CAS. Does anybody have a picture of its location? If not and I was standing in front of the car facing the engine, where would the CAS be?

Every time I do a internet search for crank angle sensor it only brings up crankshaft position sensor. Are they the same thing?

The Jaguar abbreviation for CAS is actually CKPS (CranKshaft Position Sensor).
The other engine timing relation position sensor would be the Camshaft Position Sensor or CMPS.
There is a list of common Jaguar abbreviations or nomenclature for parts of the car somewhere on this forum.

The abbreviations are usually listed in the DTC guides as ACRONYMS.

Which engine?

CKP normally picks up a missing tooth so you can usually guess where it's mounted...

Workshop manual shows and is free download.

It's down by the front crank pulley---just to the left if you stand in front of the car and look at the pulley.

Default Found it

What can I clean the crankshaft position sensor connector with? Disconnected the connector and found it to be extremely oily. Can I use carburetor cleaner to clean out the connections?
So far, I just wiped it down the best I could with a clean paper towel, both male and female ends. However the car just turns over and still will not start.

I will get some brake cleaner and pray that this is the problem.
The wife was driving the car with absolutely no issues. She went into a store and then came out. Attempted to start the car and all it did was turn over. No starting.

Upon research, I looked at the inertia switch and found it to be in the up (un pressed) position. I pressed it down.... no luck still. I pray the oil in the crankshaft position sensor connection is the issue.

By the way, I removed the rear seat and black cover from the fuel pump.
I am a large guy and was able to touch the top of the fuel pump and turn the ignition switch at the same time. Not only do I NOT hear any type of hum from where the fuel pump is, but I can not feel any type of vibrations.

You may have to measure fuel pressure.

I agree with you. However on the 2005 S-type V6 USA model, there does not appear to be a fuel valve stem to attach a fuel pressure gauge.

Worst case you can add one or read via OBD.

Funny you suggest that, because I am looking into a code reader that works in conjunction with my android phone.
Any inexpensive recommendations?

You need to get the repair manual. The JTIS. It's free on this site. You are wasting your time until you get it installed.

Then get the JEPC this is the parts catalog. Same thing the dealer uses to order parts. Sometimes having an exploded diagram is very useful. It's also free on this forum.
