Talking 06 STR dead fuel pump

I was on my way home from work this past Sunday, car started up fine. About fifteen minutes into my ride home, I was driving up a pretty steep hill, opened it up on the hill, half way up my car dies on me. I called my bro asked him to bring an OBD scanner, while waiting for him checked all my fuses (everything was fine). Scan tool did not pick up any codes when scanned on side of road. Cranked the car a few times, car would idle very poorly for about 5 seconds and dies very slowly. Got my car towed home, next day checked for fuel pressure on fuel rail, its dry. Checked for power to pump, have power but no pump. Ordered new pump and now I wait. The other thing is when I pulled my old pump out, its suposed to be clipped onto the round flange at the bottom of the fuel tank. My pump was free float in the gas tank, the plastic clip things that are part of the pump have broken off the pump housing and are laying around on the floor of the tank. Sorry in advance for no paragraphs.

Pump price with shipping is $534.79 from Jaguar Parts Center - Call (800) 510-1401 for Genuine Jaguar Parts and Accessories

The STR has two pumps that both feed the engine. How did you find out which one was bad?

Lots of testing involved.

Is it a jag-specific OBD tool? If so, which one?

With the features to read the full codes from the REM and FPM? If so, didn't you just exercise the pumps through it or doesn't it do that?

I don't know if it has this option. When I used jag specific software no codes came up, switching to generic OBD software picked up the code.

Sounds like it doesn't have it. It would normally be a large extra cost so you wouldn't normally be in doubt that you'd paid!

If the scanner had this option, where will it be under. Ecm section, because I do have access to more than the Ecm. I used this tool to reset my airbag system.

I'd expect it to offer a choice of module. AE has a dropdown or you can scan all for codes and it provides a tree view (each module, with its codes). I really doubt the X431 supports anything other than the PCM (aka ECM).

Finally installed new fuel pump, car runs way cleaner now. I have so much more power now. I think that my old pump maybe worked at like 70% capacity.
