12v jack for FM band Ipod

In a word "Yes"....but it can get better too
Instead of broadcasting over the air, I installed a the "hardwired" FM modulator in-line with the FM antenna where it comes into the back of the headunit. I then installed an ISimple IPOD compatible unit that splices off of the hardwired antenna and provides the correct hookup for the IPOD.
The kit also comes with an AUX input plug and 12v power switch to turn the unit on that you can use instead of the dedicated IPOD interface plug, which is the route I picked because I usually just have a Shuffle - while the unit is on your FM stations are fuzzy so having the switch lets you get your FM stations back clear without shutting down your AUX device. I mounted the AUX port and switch in the armrest cubby.
I did have to buy antenna adapters separately from the kit, about $20 for two of them that convert to coaxial and back on both ends, one of the adapters is male, the other one female.

If that question is directed at me, yes I'm satisfied. It is pretty faithful in reproducing sound via the AUX input from my Shuffle. Haven't tried the dedicated IPOD interface on my nano. I do have Sirius satellite radio linked through too and it is static free and sounds just like the radio stations do, maybe better.
If you are an extreme audiophile it may not quite get it done for you. But I listen mostly to sports, a lot of live music (GD channel) and harder rock and its fine.

The gogroove that I bought sounds pretty good. But it sounds even better when i remember that it's free! Having a smartphone with a 3G connection allows me to listen to more than what's available on XM. Certainly there is an issue with convenience, as this takes a little time to setup but I'm fine with the tradeoff.

I have a Sportster unit, its not built into the car. I have a docking station on the windshield next to the A pillar in the STR.
I have a docking station for it in my Jeep and a boombox dock in my office so I can take it from place to place. I have another unit in my Rover that also docks in the Saab and another lifetime scrip for that one. I also have docks for it hooked up to my home stereo and one for my hunting cabin.
The only future costs would be a transfer fee if my current unit breaks or I want to switch to a different style unit.
