1999-2008 S-Types: How Many Were Sold?

During the course ofresearchinghow to self-maintain my 2005 S-Type 3.0 that we've hadfor six weeks now, I began to wonder how successful or unsuccessful the newest S-Type series (1999 to 2008)turned out to be for Jaguar as a whole, particularly here in the U.S. I am assuming that the U.S. is Jaguar's largest andmost profitable market, butperhaps the UKholds that positionsimply because it is Jaguar'shome turf.
Does anyone have anyknowledge onhow many S-Typeswere sold here in the U.S.from the 1999 model year until production ended with the 2008 model year?
And finally, was theS-Typeseriesbrought to a closefor cost-cutting reasons, as a result of the sale of the majority of Jaguarto the Indian firm (Tata, I believe), or simply because it was deemed unsuccessful due tofailing to meet projected sales targets?
Thanks for any input that anyone "in the know" can providehere....
