Default 2000-2002 Rear Sub Frame Question

Has anyone actually switched a Lincoln LS(or T-Bird) rear sub-frame into their S Type?

A friend has a Lincoln LS with a broken bush in the rear subframe---it turns out that the local Ford dealers say their is no replacement bush for the sub frame.
All the Lincoln sub frames from auto recyclers,we have located, have had the frames cut to remove the differential!!!

So the idea is get either a used sub frame of a S Type or a new bush from a jaguar dealer.

Considering the LS sold a bunch more than the S Type I think you might have a problem getting one?

Is the sub frame broken or does he just need to change a bushing? If just the bushing he should check with Jaguar if Ford is no longer selling them.

One suggestion: Replace all the sub frame bushings if you take it apart. Not just the one he thinks is bad. It's pretty rare for these to go out? Is there a rust problem?

Many rear sub frames in the US but the cost might be too high with the shipping.

Have you checked EBay yet?

Tijoe is probably the resident JF expert on the subframes.

Rear Carrier Sub-Frame Bushings

Rear End Popping Noise

If the subframes were cut apart, would the remaining bushes not just be considered cheap junk by the yards?

One bush is broken---the metal which the bolt tightens has fractured and so effectively the sub frame is floating at that corner.

I have located a 2001 S type sub frame for $250 locally.

Or if I knew for sure that a Jaguar bush would fit then the shop(my local Mazda dealer) can press it in to the Ford sub frame.

Great reference---one of the links describes the exact problem--failure of the metal tube in the centre of the bush.

So as noted above---will a new Jaguar bush fit in the Ford frame?if not will a Jaguar frame bolt up to the Lincoln.

The damaged sub frame has to be returned in order to get the money back.

I am using a 2004 LS subframe for my rear suspension build. LS sub-frames are all the same for all LS's other then when Ford/Lincoln added a mounting plate for an electric parking brake motor. The LS sub frame will only work on 1999.5 to 2003 S-types. 2004 and newer S-types use a subframe that fits the Gen II carrier.

I assume this is what you are looking for?
