Default 2000 jag heater not working

The heater is not working in my 2000 jag s type. is there a way to determine if its the heater core or the dual coolant control valve? last year the drivers side heat worked, but not the passengers side. this year neither gets hot but both sides blow

Jaguarlady, please check the forum search feature for the threads concerning your situation. As a means to get your thoughts started in the right direction think: Dual Climate Control Valve. This is a problematic device for these cars, found under the hood, passenger side, low, with a three wire harness going to it, one coolant hose going in, two exiting into the firewall to supply the heater core. Rockauto.com sells them for $80, same as Lincoln LS. Welcome and goodluck, were here to help.

Follow the very good advice from bfsgross.

One thing to add. You made a big mistake not fixing the DCCV when it first appeared. At this late date you have a high probability that the DCCV has now taken out your CCM (Climate Control Module).

If it has get it repaired and do not purchase a new one from Jaguar. The repair is much cheaper and they can add protection circuits to save the CCM if the DCCV goes out again.

One last thing to add. Make sure you get the correct DCCV. There is a 3 hose and a 5 hose version. Since again we don't have the car details we can't tell you which one you need!!

Ditto to tbird: In the event the DCCV caused failure of the CCM (on rear of climate control station, 20 minutes to remove), the CCM can be sent to an outfit (jaguarclimatecontrol.com ? Someone help me here). They'll repair the CCM for $120. Regardless, be sure to install a new DCCV prior to a CCM repair/install.

Hard to say because when the CCM goes out it gives an array of symptoms.

Maybe someone that had a bad CCM can add to this?

But at any rate the main point was to not let the DCCV stay bad. Once it goes it usually draws excessive current and that is what burns out the CCM.

So change the DCCV and see what happens.

Default Air in coolant lines

You know...you may have air in the coolant lines. Check for a low level of coolant in expansion tank (open hood and see reservoir smack in front center of engine). Bleed air out of lines by removing cap on expansion tank while engine and heat on. Otherwise, as tbird suggests... a toasted DCCV and CCM can precipitate a myriad of presentations (heat out of one vent, a/c out of another).
