2000 jaguar stype belt tensioner problem
i have a 2000 jaguar stype 4.0 and the belt keeps making noise, when i spray wd40 on the belt the noise well stop for a few seconds and then comes back, thats because i bought a new belt like a week ago, so i think its tensioner, now here is where my problem comes in,first i went to oreillys and bought the pully for the tensioner which was a match with the original, so i put it on the orginal assembly along with the new belt and the noise went away for a day or two then came back, so then i ordered the assembly from oreillys and the assembly is a little shorter then the original one and the pulley that came with it is alot smaller than both the original pulley and the pulley that oreillys sells with out the assembly, so then i went to autozone and it was the same thing with there product, so i called a local ford dealer because the original tensioner says ford on it and i read them the number off of it and i was told that it was a bad number and they didnt have that number in there data base, so can any body please help me out with this or give any kind of info on my situation??????????

No not familiar with the configuration on your car I was comparing it to my 99 xk8 4.0. I recently purchased a S-Type 3.0 and had not had the time to look it over yet. A squealing/chirping noise can be many things from the belt to a bearing and pinpointing it is not easy. If you can get a mechanics stethoscope it would help a lot. This link is from Sears http://www.sears.com/shc/s/search_10...scope&sLevel=1 It might help.

i guess i will go and buy that to help me out, i went ahead and ordered a assembly from another place that carried the same assembly that the jag dealer sells not as expensive as the dealer of course but still going to cost me around 90.00 dollars, so im really hoping its the tensioner, ive also tried to look to see if any thing is out of line but every thing seems lined up, but is there any way i can really find out if every thing is lined up right???
