2000 S-Type 4.0 Problems
At approx. 55,000 miles my Jaguar started to idle a bit rough, and the check
engine light came on. The gas mileage also decreased by about 10 mpg. There
was also a significant loss of power. By reading various forums, I found out
that the valve cover and spark plug well gaskets all leak, enabling oil to
saturate the ignition coils and spark plugs. Sure enougn, when I pulled off the
valve covers, I found that oil did saturate one of the banks. I replaced all 8
spark plugs but the ignition coils were cleaned up and re-used as they appeared
new and un-damaged. When all was assembled, it was as if I did nothing at all.
The car still had the same problems. When I went to get a diagnostic check,
only a faulty oxygen sensor came up. Is Bank 1 position 1 the drivers side in
front of the catalytic converter? Anyway I replaced both O2 sensors in front of
the cats and still nothing changed. I still continue to get the same error code
(oxygen sensor bank 1 position 1, slow response P0133) and the car still runs
poorly. Is there a way to check to see if any of my ignition coils are faulty?
Are there any suggestions in remedying the problems that I'm experiencing? Any
help is greatly appreciated. By the way, my passenger side power seats keep
blowing fuses. Where should I start to fix the problem? Thanks again.
