Default 2000 s type water leak

my sons s type is dripping water from the expansion tank just by the lower pipe..cant tell if its the tank or the pipe..any advice please..also how do i get the pipe off then back on?

It is most likely a cracked nipple. Very common. I know the tank is in a slightly different location on the early cars. Do a search on this section and you should find a ton of threads about it.

Some have had luck taking off the hose and replacing the hose clamp to stop the leak. But I wouldn't try that without having a tank handy, just in case.

dennisw - +1 above to the expansion tank - rather easy to replace and good insurance nonetheless.
