Default 2001 S-type 3.0 dead bank

Anyone ran into one complete bank not firing? Its a 3.0. Has all new coils and all wiring checks out. I personally haven't started diagnosing myself. I just received the car from my dad who has given up. Any help? I'm a GM tech and not a Ford fan lol.

Don't recall it before but obvious checks should find something so distinctive. With multple things (cyls) all failing just look what's in common.

Are the plugs firing or is it not getting fuel to the bank?

As he says wiring checks out it cannot be all 3 coils not firing.

I think the most likely fault is wiring, even so.

Sorry JagV8, I miss interpreted his OP.
It has got to be wiring. The fuel rail provides fuel to both banks.

What do I know.......

I can't remember if the 3.0 or the 4.0 has the 'sometimes faulty' ignition condenser/suppressor bolted to the back of the heads. Try to detach the wire to the condenser on the bank that has failed. You can disconnect the condenser or unbolt it from the head and isolate.

You should now get spark but you should probably replace it if it is faulty.

I had this fault back about 10 or 15 years ago when a customer car came into the Jaguar dealer and it took a while to figure it out.

It has fuel. But no spark. Only on the passenger side bank. I looked for something bolted to the back of the head, but found nothing. That must be the 4.0. Only thing I can think of would be ecm. Agree? I just ordered a used one for $100. Worth a shot I guess.

Unlikely, we just don't see them fail.

It's part of anti-theft so without specialist kit expect to cause worse trouble. I would not even try another!
