2001 S-Type Air Conditioning not cold
Hi all,
I'm doing a bit of investigation for my brother. His 2001 3.0 S Type with the non touch screen climate control was blowing nice cold air a couple of months ago. The car has been parked in my drive and I had to use it for a short trip yesterday. For some reason the AC is not getting cold. This is regardless of speed or any of the other quirks that I've come across. All other functions of the system seem to function as expected. I tried cycling the system up to hot then back down to Lo but no joy. The air did get hot then back to cool but not chilled at all.
One thing I can say is that when the AC is switched on there is no audible change in the engine or any sound of the AC system engaging. We popped the hood and I had someone turn the system on and off and could hear any evidence of the AC engage. The small red indicator light on the AC button does light up. One option I want to check is if the fuse has gone. I did find the post about which fuse this is and where it is (from the link in the handbook download sticky post) but for some reason this cars engine bay fuse box is a different shape to the diagrams given on this forum. The place where the fuse should be doesn't exist as the fuse box is just a rectangle shape without the bit sticking off the side. We have no handbook so was hoping someone could enlighten me on where the fuse might be on a 2001 model?
Or what other things I may be able to check?
Many thanks for any assistance!
Andrew

Since your location is listed as New Zealand, there may be a different layout for the fusebox in a RH drive vehicle.
You may want to check with one of the British forums to see if there is information on the fusebox location and layout for a RH drive car, or a local Jaguar dealership near you.
To save time, you might also want to check to see if there is power to the air conditioning compressor clutch with the system on and set to 'Lo'.
