Default 2001 S-type door closing

Hi, except for the front passenger side, none of the other doors makes a Jag door closing sound. They no longer produce a solid thump. Has anyone been able to align them properly? The rubber seals are not worn but are not new either. Thanks

Are the hinges worn causing the door to drop a little? To test, open the door and try to lift it up and down. If there is movement, your hinges are worn.

thanks Sporton, I just checked, and the doors do not move up or down. But I noticed that the clamps(?) look fairly new. would it be a matter of adjusting them properly? I tried that on my XJ but never got it right.

Is there some way I can align them? Thanks

I usually align them for height by eye, comparing them to the latch in the door. However, lateral alignment must be done by trial and error.

Latch! That's what they are, thanks. Trial and error, ok. At the very least, that will be a chance to clean under the latches. Thanks

Yes its a good idea to keep the latches clean and well lubricated.
