Good Morning all! I am posting this on behalf of my Mother in Law...She has a 2001 S Type Jag and just recently her headlights went out...

Not that big of a deal right? Just replace the bulbs right? WRONG!! She took it to the dealer, and they told her that the parts that need replacing are 2400$-2700$ "PER SIDE"!!!!!! Is this fictional? Or is that just a dealer being....A dealer?

Is there any alternatives that they could do to possible fix this situation? They dont have 4800$ to just drop on new headlights. Apparently its something to do with something that holds the bulbs or whatever...I dont know exact details but has anyone ever heard of this dilemma? Any kind of advice would be greatly appreciated.

are they HID or regular bulbs??

They are regular bulbs...Apparently whats broke is the plastic piece that connects the lights that holds them in place...i guess its the labor to do this thats costing so much because you have to take off the bumper and a whole bunch of other stuff just to get to the light assembly? Ive never personally looked at a Jaguar so i dont know what it requires to do all this so it sounds like a pain in the butt...if anyone has any cost efficient ways in taking care of this problem it would be fantastic...

Might be able to do the headlight refinishing too before putting them in. Its really not too bad to do them, most of the time it can be done with common houshold toolbox tools.
