As the heading says, this problem strated last week at the beginning of a trip from Toronto to Indianapolis. Wife forgot something after we left so we had to go back. While waiting for her, car running in park, after a minute and a half it shut off. Turned the key back, and she staretd right up again. Made the trip to Indy with no problems.
While in Indy, sitting in a gas station idling in park, same thing happened. Again, started up fine and no problems with the trip back to Toronto.
Just went for lunch and did a little test when I got back. Parked the car, put it in park, and let it idle. After 1.5 minutes, it shut off.
Car has a bit of a rough idle sometimes but nothing major. Need to pull the codes. Have to see if my OBD II reader will work on a Jag.
Any thoughts? Thanx!

BTW... where is the OBDII port located?

Will it shut off in gear or in neutral or only in park? You need to find out is it dying or being shut off? What dash lights are on when it shuts down? All the normal ones?
By law all OBD ports must be within 3' of the steering wheel. Look under the steering wheel/dash towards the center console. Plug will be staring you in the face.

Thanks for the response. Here's some more investigative info.
Started the car on my break. Left it in park. Rough idle. Let it idle for 3 minutes, no shut off. Gave it a couple of quick revs. Idle smoothed out. Let it idle in park for another minute and it shut itself off. No sputter or anything, just an instant off. Normal dash lights (battery/oil) came on.
Started it again. Put in drive and let it idle. Smooth idle this time. Idled for 5 minutes with no shut off. Put it back in park and 30 seconds later it shut off again.
Very strange......

P.S. I think I found the OBDII port. Thanks.

Chances are it's an air leak. Idle is most affected as there's so little other air, thus any extra gives the PCM grief and it can cut out.
On your era engine it's likely a perished hose, often at an elbow - lots of threads as to the usual culprits.
OBD live data may show you funny LTFTs. You may or may not have codes as the nearest code would be "WTF?" due to the PCM just seeing it cut out with no known cause. (There isn't really one for WTF.)
