Default 2002 Jaguar S-Type 4.0 v8

A few problems:
1) My dash won't display my kilometres, or anything on the message centre I guess you can say. All my other dash items work though!

2) Rough idle below 1000RPM but is perfectly fine above 1000RPM (Ignition Coils?)

3) Traction Control is always on, cannot turn it off, (Wheel speed sensor?) please help I'll be screwed if I get stuck in snow

Thank you guys so much my first ever Jaguar at 17 years bought with my own cash so I want to take great care of it!

Might be anything - worst case would be timing due to failed chain tensioners.

They have almost for sure not been changed to the metal-bodied ones and will at some point destroy the engine.

So, check them! Lots of threads about them.

One other thing you could do is get an OBD tool with live data and check the fuel trims to see if you've an air leak (another cause of idle issues).

1) Start by checking all fuses, they sometimes crack without an obvious burn so check carefully or with a test light.

2 and 3) Get a scanner and check for fault codes, many parts stores lend them for free.

I have the same car, so welcome aboard!

I assume you don't have any history on the car. May just need spark plugs.....just worn out.

The dash display could be just the connection on that little 4 button panel on the upper right of the gauge cluster that controls it. Any connections you test, do yourself a favor by spraying both male and female ends with contact cleaner.

Investing in an iCarsoft i930 scanner will save you headaches later....this one is dedicated to Jags and Range Rovers, so you get details about specific codes our cars throw.

This forum is THE place for answers. Post your findings....most here have been down this road before.
