Default 2002 rear crossmember question

I got hit in the rear tire and my rear crossmember got bent. My chassis # is M45254 V8 and I know some parts of the S type don't match because of the different chassis. I'm trying to find a rear crossmember at a scrap yard and don't want to buy the wrong part. Does anyone know what model years I should get I'm trying to buy the complete subframe with control arms and components. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are smart to post the VIN. I think you are still in the early generation and not the GEN II. The cut off was in the M54xxx's somewhere. Anyone have the exact cutoff VIN??

This would mean you can use the Lincoln LS part. There are tons of 2000-2002 LS's in the junk yards. Should be cheap to buy but expensive to ship. I would look locally first unless you are in the rust belt. Then I would insist on a rust free southern part.

Try to get a complete rear sub frame assembly. You can't tell what's bent on your car and then you will have spares for everything.

So you actually have the LAST X200 car built???
M45255 is the first X202 (2003MY) so I would guess that any rear subframe from 2000MY to 2002MY or an early Lincoln LS would fit.

Exactly.. It's the very last of gen I (so it'll be a 4.0 not a 4.2). Kinda unique car!

The scrap parts should be available by now. You want the 1999-2002 kind.

Almost any Gen1 S-Type should work. Just be wary of early cars. Units from cars prior to VIN L06641 will probably require different bolts and stabilizer links.

Good luck!

thanks guys, with the info you guys gave me the early generation 00-02 will work for sure except the very early 2000 models. Its interesting that the LS might work I wonder if someone can confirm that I would most likely be able to get that alot cheaper has anyone slapped a LS rear crossmember on their jag? I contacted some yards asking them but they said according to their info it wouldn't work but I think alot of parts interchange they just keep it a secret to prevent jag people buying LS parts. Anyhow I think my best bet is to just get one from a jag to prevent headaches in case I buy the LS one and then it doesn't work. Thanks again for the fast responses.

They are the same but no listing exists to tell you that. Every single rear suspension part is the same between the S Type and the LS for 2000-2002.

Of course there still could be some small difference? I have pictures of both and I sure can't see anything!
