2002 s type broken Lug
#41
a small victory
OK. so image 1 is what I started with. so I got some bits and my drill (image 2-3) and started working my way around the broken lug nut. next few images. Increasing the size as I progressed. soon I hit the rim (image 6). now I took the rest of the nuts off and the tire popped right off. what was left (image 7-8) fell off with a few flicks with my screw driver. all in all I did accomplish what I wanted. to get the broken nut off the dam car. the only downside to my approach is that I have a scratched rim ( lucky I have a never used full size in the truck) and I came too close the LUG a few times with the drill bit, so I needed to get a new lug. so mission accomplished with minimal collateral damage. please give me your thoughts. good or bad. I enjoy them all.......really
oh. and using a batter drill was not my idea. My impact drill was over at my friends house who is still out of town, so I took a few breaks while it charged.

Thanks. YES I got it off, so victory is mine. but let me tell you, if it wasn't for this board, I would be still wondering how to start this and many more projects on my 2002 S type. all of them have had a very successful finish because of this Board and the input given to various questions.
Now off to the junk yard to see if I can find a lower trim piece for the center console.
