Default 2002 s-type rear struts

Do I need rear struts or another part? Ride is hard from the rear without a lot of bounce. Also makes dull but noticeable thump sound.

I'm not familiar with your car, so posting in the forum for your model might get you faster answers. I know some Jags have "air ride" (whatever that is) so again I'm not equipped to be very helpful.

Other questions you will get asked: Are you on factory rims or aftermarket? What tires are you running, and how old are they?

Best of luck,
Vince

pampurd,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help section to S-Type section.

More members with the same model as you will see it here and you should get more replies.

What size of wheels and tyres do you have?

Have you had a shop take a look? Have you got under the car and looked? It's a pretty complicated independent rear suspension so there are a lot of moving parts.

It could be as simple as changing the tires to a completely worn out suspension. Your car is now over 11 years old.

Have you ever replaced any parts in the rear suspension?

Rear struts were replaced by dealer at 60k. Rear sway bar replaced last year by Indy shop, but old rear tires did not wear unevenly.
An Indy suspension shop wants $35 to look at it.
