Default 2002 vs 2002.5

Not to sound completely dumb, but how can I identify whether my s-type is a 2002 or 2002.5. It's going to make a big cost difference replacing my front drivers window regulator. Tried using the VIN translator tools in the FAQ section, but not seeing where the distinction is for the MY change.

If you have a traditional park brake lever it's a 2002. If you have the electronic type it's 2002.5 or 2003.

Is your STR registered as a 2002? I thought in the US we got the STR as a 2003 model although the rest of the world got it as a 2002.5?

Yes any STR will be the face lift model 2002.5 and up.

An STR with traditional park brake? Wow Probably a pre-production model / very early sales demo. It may have almost any mix of other stuff, then!!

That is very strange. I hate to ask but it begs the question - is it really an "R" model?

So this is the part where I sheepishly clarify that I am still learning. Have never been very car literate. But with help from you folks, I'm picking it up as I go. But now to admit, bought the car without clarifying the distinction. I would suppose the simplest way to look would be to look at the "decals" on the trunk which does not specify it as and "R". It is registered as a 2002. I only mentioned the "R" because a shop I had it in mentioned it in passing once and I thought I was the one that had it wrong. Ugh! It's humbling to have to show my ignorance like that. lol. Anyway, thanks to all for bearing with me. I already know more about cars in the last year than in the first 37 years of my life. Got a late start, but I'm catching up. Also learning the satifaction of picking up a wrench and doing it myself. Not a bad feeling.

No worries. But knowing the year, engine etc means people can offer more appropriate ideas

Yeah don't sweat it man - we only wanted to know so we can aid you better, just like jagV8 said. We certainly are not gonna flame you for this.

Another easy way to tell - no blower = no "R" ....

Anyway, glad you are finding your DIY mojo and keep on posting up any issues or questions you have.

thanks again guys! thought I would mention I just scored a regulator on Amazon.com for $36!!! Bought the Lincoln LS part for $76 and opened an Amazon VISA card for which they gave me an instant $40 gift card so I only had to pay $36 on the new credit card which I will pay off immediately and then just close the account. labor will be free with dad's help and the DIY out the FAQ section here. dad, BTW is far more car savvy than I am. the apple just fell way off the tree in this case. I think he likes me finding my DIY mojo too. lol
